Love and War: The Battle of the Sexes Has Been Fought

Rate: 22 Flag

It was a courageous battle.

Both sides fought with bravado, determination and chivalry.  Wonderful tactics were also employed ...some used sex appeal; others charm; some cute; some sad; some funny ... and all worked so well too!

Such was the Iron Poet Challenge of Love  – the Battle of the Sexes!

Firstly, let me introduce you to the warriors and their weapons of choice.  (If I've missed anyone, please don't hesitate to let me know.)

On the Men’s Team:

J D Smith – Love in the Winds of Chance

Blinddream – Singular Valentine

Blinddream – What’s Touching Me

Jan Sand – Love Poem

Jan Sand – Whether Report

The Obsolete Man - Beauty

Chuck A. Stetson - Simple Silence

Ira White - Your Touch

Damon E Walters - The Peony

Charlie Thornton - Languid Kissing Fusion

Kim Gamble - Dark Valentine (He)

And on the Ladies’ Team:

hugs, me – My Youngest Love

patricia k – Writhing Ecstasy

Lunchlady 2 – I Need

Flower Child – Near – Or Far?

Stacye Carroll – Will You?

Satori1 – Forty Years

Angelkisses – Untitled

trilogy – Anti-Valentine

catch-22 – Million-Watt Smile

Michelle Coulter - A Strong Hand

Foolish Monkey - Hello Handsome

froggy - Ambivalent Valentines

Rita Shibr - Dark Valentine (She)

Little Kate – Beautiful You

So who won the Battle?

If it were a battle of strength in numbers, we could perhaps argue that the ladies won.  But what if it were a battle of skill and quality?   Well they were all so darn good how good anyone possibly choose!

Let's call this one a draw shall we?  Besides ... all is fair in love and war!

Well .... it is, isn't it?

A special mention must be made of a poem awarded an EP. Yes!  You read it right!  Your eyes aren't deceiving you!  A poem was finally given an EP!

Congratulations to Greg Correll for this beautiful poem ...

thanks Kate...it was fun!
And you, Kate, win the Dave Rickert award for promoting poetry! Congratulations.
Now this is how all wars should be fought: with bravado, determination, chivalry, and most of all, poems being the "weapon of choice." What a great idea. I missed a lot of these so thanks for the links Kate. And glad to see a poem got an EP.
Little Kate, this was enjoyable even though I couldn't come up with a new one. Thank you for putting this together for all of us. You are so sweet!
A battle was fought and won though I was't aware -
yet I did get winds of it here and there.
Thank you JD and Little Kate.
Now a grand list with all the links -
provides a day's reading at my fingertips.
To the sweetheart of OpenSalon: Huzzah!
Glad to see this list Kate since the pretty weather of these mountains has been calling me outside for days now.
And the fact that a POEM got an EP is outstanding in this place.
TY TY!!
What a great competition. I am so happy to learn of the first poetic EP! Winning one for the poets, I am so happy.

Thanks for the shout out Kate. My post was a re-post from something I did in September, so I didn't leave it up after late last night. Nice idea for collaboration and fun, thanks.
I agree with Matt..
You are the AOP
that would be The Angel of Poetry:)

Thanks for organizing this, Kate! And for adding in my late entry. It's all good.
this was fun. thank you for the challenge.
great poems...there may be a few I missed, but will go back down the list.

sorry, I didn't give mine a title...will have to go back and do that later.

Thanks, Kate and Iron Poet, for the challenge.
I'm behind here (so often the case) so I missed this challenge. Thanks for this list. I did see the historic EP for poetry. Very nice.
Thanks for listing them all, you made my life so much easier....That is awesome, congrats to Greg, everything he writes is spectacular. r
This is my kind of battle! Everybody wins and Greg's incredible poem gets an EP. I swoon. :D

Lezlie
It WAS fun, and many thanks to you!
Blinddream: It WAS fun, wasn't it! Thank you for playing!

Matt: A high honour indeed! Thank you, Matt!

Margaret: The best kind of war it was! It is all I can do to repay those who participated by providing links to their wonderful poems so I hope you will find time to read a lot of them! My thanks to you, Margaret!

patricia k: It was my great pleasure indeed! Poetry, love , friendship and collaboration... we all win!

Fusun: You're making me smile again! Thank you! I highly recommend this reading list, Fusun. You won't be disappointed!

dianaani: I had to look up 'huzzah'! YAY!!!! Thank you!
Mission: I'm loving the fact that you're able to get outdoors at the moment and that it is in pretty weather ... well that's even better! I know our poets here would be grateful if you do find time to read any of these fine contributions, Mission. Sending you love and good wishes and my sincere thanks!

RomanticPoetess: Isn't it wonderful that Greg scored an EP for poetry! I do hope they continue to feature poetry here and there and not just leave it as a Valentine's Day offering.

Rita: It was no matter that it was a repost, Rita! But I appreciate so very much that you did join in. Lots of fun indeed ... but not all my idea either ... JD was co-architect!

Linda: I'm also the LWABS .... that would be the Lady With A BIG Smile! : ) Thank you!

froggy: Absolutely my pleasure, froggy! I'm so glad you joined in!
Thanks Kate & JD. Sorry I didn't rise further than a repost. And Congrats Greg.....First poetry EP ever!
Chuck: Thank YOU for joining in! It was fun for sure!

Angelkisses: It was wonderful that you joined in AK! If you decide on a title, please pm me and I'll amend it here too.

Mimetalker: No apologies necessary! Enjoy!

hugs, me: Lots of love to be enjoyed if you find time to read! Thank you for your contribution too! Your little man is indeed a cutie!

Lezlie: The best kind of battle indeed! And Greg ... well ... he's our HERO!

Sartori1: Honestly, no need to thank me. It WAS fun though!
trilogy: No apologies necessary! Only happy that you were able to join in! That's the main thing ... to join in, have fun and spread a little love!
Looks like I've got some reading to do. Thanks Kate for your continuous generosity and creativity.
This is the most fun I've ever had in this ageless "battle." Most rounds I'd rather forget.

Thanks for making it fun, LK!
sparking: Thank you friend! Have fun reading!

Charlie: I'm so glad you DID have fun! Thank you for joining in!
I didn't realize the sexes were battling. Looked to me like lovemaking.
Leon: I think perhaps it was a little of both! But either way, it was a lot of fun!
Wow I hardly was aware of this situation because I guess I grew up on a farm and both sexes had their place that was so important to the other, Thanks for this and more.
All IS ffair in Love

We are on an equal and level battle field
and
no-one can move the goal posts anymore
Well done everyone - keep up the good fight with all thy might.
Come Together.... Right Now....
Great news all around here! I can just feel the love! When I get a real chunk of time, not just stolen moments, I plan to read and enjoy all the poems here that I haven't been able to already.
I missed most of those (we were out for a few days, celebrating our anniversary) so I thank you for doing a round-up. It's about time a poem got an EP -- and I'm not surprised it was Greg who brought it home.
I am going to save this list for after I catch up on the month. Thank you for the round-up.
