As an island bursts with treasure
So does my heart with joy
When I recall the sights and sounds
Whilst sailing on ship ahoy
On southern seas I did set sail
Visiting many isles
Raven-haired girls and suntanned boys
With brilliant, friendly smiles
The rowdy beat of island drums
Accompany gorgeous girls
Who mesmerise with wriggling hips
And tresses of lustrous curls
Enchanted by the hula girl
Who wore a bright sarong
Bright-eyed children happily played
And others sing a song
Rugged mountains; tropical vales
And dazzling, sapphire seas
Golden sunrise; blood-red sunset
A graceful, evening breeze
The place of war and history
The places of devotion
The rhythmic swish of ship on sea
The wonders of the ocean
I swam with creatures from the deep
I swam at Waikiki
The highest peaks shrouded in mist
What gorgeous scenery!
A photo captured these moments
My heart embraced the pleasures
My mind will hold the memories
I’ll not forget these treasures

Linda: HI THERE!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for the BIG welcome back! I've missed you lovely lady!
a little too merry
she wobbles ashore
with stories galore - hey, Kate,
welcome back ( you haven't missed as much
as a Leepin Larry backflip ;-)
Oh, you lovely man ... I love your ditty! I did come back brown - at least as brown as this redheaded, freckle-skinned girl can get!
And I feel like I'm wobbling around with a couple of extra kilos too!
Sorry I wasn't able to catch up whilst in Sydney ... I saw your message when I got back but, nonetheless, on both forward and return trips I was straight from plane to boat and vice versa!
I wonder if Larry might grace us with a backflip now? Kinda in honour of my return? Whadya reckon?
*sighing with relief*
glad to have you home once more.
=')}
and r for returning.....
But very very nice!
Write more!!!! NOW !!! please.... : )
PS. Remember your river poem? I said I had one also, I put it back on a post for you, not realizing you were gone untill a week ago or so. It is called "River Gone". Scroll down a bunch, sorry I have not hooked it up with link yet, my garden is keeping me crazy busy!!
Blinddream: Thank you so very much for the welcome back. I visited Hilo, Kona, Lahaina and Honolulu on the Hawaiian islands – and all were very magical indeed! I just loved it there.
Trilogy: I know! I know! Me on US soil! I recall that first step vividly! It was kind of special for me … you know? I was thinking of my US friends and how, in a way, I was quite close to you. Gee … it is so good to see you! And take good care of you and that leg. Okay?
Algis: I’m glad you liked it! Thank you!
Cindy: “Sweets”! You make me smile! I sure do have some stories to tell and once I’m settled and sorted through so many pictures, I’ll write a post or two as soon as I can. Cindy, I sure do remember you telling me you had a river poem too and can’t wait to read yours! I’ll be there soon! Thank you!
Songbird: It’s lovely to meet you too! And thank you so very much for your lovely comment! It is very much appreciated. I really enjoy cruising too … this was my second cruise.
Sophieh: Thank you friend. And thank you for being here! It is good to see you!
Just Cathy: And I’m so glad to be back in the ‘hood too! I am indeed a ‘lucky ducky’ … I won’t forget the sights and sounds in a hurry. Magic!

Lezlie: Hi there! Oh yes ... Hawaii IS enchanting! Honolulu reminded me very much of Surfer's Paradise on the Gold Coast (just north of where I live) but it had it's own special magic too .... and Maui ... well, I loved it! Even more magical!

This poem had such lovely motion. I have never been to the places you describe so well, but have enjoyed them through your eyes.
pastvoices: Catching up with friends here is a real pleasure and I am so glad you've dropped by. I am sorry to hear that recent times have still been quite rough for you. I'll catch up with you very soon but, for now, just know that it IS very good to hear from you!
