If I could wish a thousand wishes ...

Rate: 25 Flag

If I could wish a thousand wishes
I'd give them all to you
For one is all I need my love
To make my dreams come true
From now until the end of time
I'd wish to stand by you --
To sleep with you and wake with you
Would be the perfect rhyme
Of things and grandeur I’d not want
Just simple joys of life and love
Heav’nly gifts so freely given
A blessing from the Lord above
And so one wish is all I need
        A small but magical seed

I just can't help myself!!! A little bit of hopeless romantic silliness!!!

Sigh.
Nice words and wish, Kate!
Oh this is so wonderful. "Would be the perfect rhyme", just makes me smile.r
I like romantic silliness. Things are too serious at times and this makes me smile.
Smiling large here Kate.....
If I could wish a thousand wishes
I'd give them all to everyone..
For without all of you I am kind of missing some pieces..:)
HUGGGGGGGGGGG
"a small but magical seed..." Me thinks there is a wee baby wish in them thar words! xoxo
Beautiful poem! I like how the last 2 lines sum it up!
Lovely. May I read this to my husband? I think he'd understand.
Kate, you have a good heart and a lively lovely spirit. I'm so glad you are here and I can read your poems. :)
I am such a sucker for this kind of poem, this feeling....I may have to hand in my MAN card....good job.
Let thineself a helpless romantic be
And share the beauty you feel and see
For to express thyself in a sonnet no less
Is the most sublime skill a poet doth possess!
♥R
Janice: Thank you!

hugs,me: Smiling here too. Thank you!

scanner: Oh you are such a softy at heart! Love that about you!

Mission: Isn't a smile just one of the most wonderful things? It's free and keeps on giving! Smiling back at ya!
I really love this poem, Little Kate..."just simple joys of life and love..."
Linda: Oh dear. Come back and write here. Please?
Just Cathy: LOL!!!! No way! Oh you are so funny!

Susie: Thank you so much. : )

Rei Momo: For real? Wow. I would be absolutely honoured if you did. Thank you! : )

Foolish Monkey: Wow. What a lovely thing you have just said to me. Thank you.
Marty's Husband: That a man can have those feelings, and be a silly hopeless romantic too ... well ... it makes me smile ... I'm not alone! But, no, you don't have to hand in that MAN card ... you're the best kind of man in my books!

Fusun: WOW! Your beautiful poetic comment just blows me away. Thank you ... THANK YOU! Oh wow .....

jramelle: I can't tell you how surprised I am to receive such lovely comments about me being a hopeless romantic and for posting this kind of poem. It warms my heart and does make me smile. Thank you!

clay ball: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! : )
You are a hopeless romantic! You weren't kidding. Nonetheless, it is quite sweet and enjoyable. And sonnets are sonnets. Something magical about them.
Brass: I tried to warn ya! Absolutely pathetic, eh?
No, no, no. I did not say pathetic. I only hope whoever this is addressed to is worthy of the sentiments expressed. Now if this person is some hypothetical ideal, I would feel better then. But don't tell me. I don't want to know.
Brass: Okay ... I won't tell you. ; )
This is just so romantically cute, it brings back the best of the romantic age. Very well said, Kate. R
Sweets from the Sweet.
You have a beautiful heart, thanks for sharing this.
And really...echoing the praise of the rest...what is more powerful than a seed? Think of the giants, redwoods (or Eucalyptus, where you are), all start with tiny little seeds. Yes. A magical seed would be wish enough!
Not a "hopeless" romantic, Kate - a "Hopeful" Romantic. Beautiful.
Thoth: Thank you. But I kind of think I need to watch out for writing cute ... I'm getting too old to be cute. Perhaps I need to grow up a bit but, gee, most of the time I feel quite young inside still.

Pilgrim: You're so sweet to me!

Erica: What a lovely thing to say to me. Thank you so very much.

Spike: From little things big things grow. And they can be pretty darn amazing!

Trilogy: Thank you friend. That makes me smile.

My wish isn't to mean everything to everyone but something to someone.

Not silly at all, a wish I think so many of us have.
A hopeless romantic indeed!
Ah...but quite the poet!!!!

Well well done!
LL2: I think you're right but it doesn't hurt to dream, does it?

JD: Yeppers ... absolutely hopeless indeed! : )
Nice poem...and if you find many of those magical seeds send one this way please...Cheers & Happy 4th of July to you on this good day.
Algis: I think they just might be floating on the breeze, waiting for us to pluck them. Cheers to you, Algis!
Go for it, Little Kate! Wish those 1,000 wishes! You most certainly have the power!
mhold: Ah! But one is all I need and I have wished it here in this poem.
A lovely sonnet, Kate. Lucky's the one it's addressed to.
Sounds more like hopeful romantic.
You know me, I am a lover of romantic poetry and this made me very happy.
rated with love
Leon: Thank you, Leon. Smiling here.

RomanticPoetess: Hopeful sounds much nicer than hopeless. Thank you! : )
