in the hush of the moment (Torman's OC)

Rate: 14 Flag

in the hush of the moment
there is much to be cherished --

a child at play
with his imaginary friend

a shimmering glimmer
in almond-brown eyes
the gleam that says
she is happier now

the dance above town
of birds in flight
rising
falling
crisscrossing the sky

a winter’s eve
and a hot, deep bath
by candlight flicker
the moon and the stars

a rainy day
spent snug in my bed

and, oh,
the morn
whose smiling rays of sun
kiss sleepy eyes
and warm a heart

yes --
in the hush of the moment
there is much to be cherished

You capture those moments so beautifully.
"a rainy day
spent snug in my bed"

Ah this is one of my own small joys, Kate. Beautifully written and a joy to read...thank you.
I often wish I could be a child at play again. I need to create that moment for myself, I guess. These are beautiful reminders! Thank you!
Those are the ones, aren't they? A poem as fresh and lovely as a spring day.
Your poem has a hushed quality that reinforces the theme--that's really neat; but there's a kind of power in that hushedness, too, an urge to joy, to take delight in the small things that, because we are used to seeing the big things, so easily get overlooked. Lovely poem, and I agree with Torman about being snuggly abed on those rainy days. Heck, at my age, I could be snuggly abed on most days!
This made me happy, just reading it!
We have to cherish those moments and recognize those joys. You seem to be so good at that and expressed it so well.
Your words weave a warm glow around the reader.
Thank you for those precious hushed moments.
to many favorite lines to list. lovely.r
Cherished indeed Little Kate.
A hot bath and stars sounds a little bit like heaven.

Very well written!

Miguela: What a lovely comment! Thank you!
Jerry: I smile to read that you feel a hushed quality to my poem for it is how I feel it myself ... the small joys quietly seen and felt in stolen glances and moments in time.

Such wonderful images, thanks for making me smile this morning.
You always bring a smile to my face and transport me with your beautiful words, Kate. xo, Erica
Each one is precious, but I must say the kid playing with an imaginary playmate is just right, just perfect. Bless you for thinking of that.
There is much beauty and love to be cherished in the delightful poem.

Romantic Poetess: Thank you! : )
My first thought is "Be still and know that I ma God." I don't know the Bible so not sure of the context, but to me it says to accept, wholly, the gifts of beautiful moments. After all, memories are what we carry of life lived.
