Twilight and Discovery

Rate: 39 Flag

Australian Sunset

Like the falling twilight
love of life fades
and darkness becomes my companion

All within me near withers

Yet the circle of life –
of living
brings the promise of a new day

A reawakening to light
where happiness
and love
can be found once more

Such is the magic and beauty of life --
twilight and discovery … hand in hand

I guess it’s kind of what Easter is all about too…
It's precisely what Easter is about, with the beauty but not the blood and suffering.
Loved the picture and the words send me thinking about many things. Put your face to the sun and begin again. Rest at the twilight, the dark is only temporary.
That is an inspiring picture. I see the promise.
It's exactly what Easter is about....Marty always talked about the dark before the dawn -- what I see is the amazing ability for all of us to seek the new day and start all over again, time and again. Excellent stuff. I hope your day is wonderful.
I guess I'll have to rethink Easter. I thought it was about bunnies.

Reawakening sounds wonderful.r
You have your own Easter coming, Kate. I so identify with your poem.

Thanks.
You know this because you are strong and brave.
The circle of day brings many promises, and not just on Easter. Lovely poem./r
its beautiful, Kate!
Such hope. Such beauty. Thank you.
Nice offering of hope for this time of year. Thanks.
Jan Sand cracks me up.

You reminded me of a false accusation . . .
One sunset night I was squinting my eyeballs.
The twilight shadows made the writ less clear.

I was trying (innocently) to read the sweatshirt print.
The words scrawled across her shirt-blouse blurred.
Maybe it was from brews and wild morel mushrooms.
Commenters are great Joy to read if editor no deletes.
This fills me with hope and is so exquisitely written. Peace and love to you....rated with admiration.
Wow! You took that picture?! I knew you could write, but I didn't realize you were also a photographer! Impressive. I like the way you framed the sunset. As for me, as gorgeous as they are, I find sunsets to be sort of sad. At times, I can feel my mood slip as the sun slips behind the horizon.....
Liking this Lil, renewal, hope even at the darkest hours. Nature shows us again and again, life goes on.
Glad the light returns. Enjoy it.
Your words and images are gorgeous. r
Like the falling twilight
love of life fades
and darkness becomes my companion

I really like this. In fact, it could stand on its own.

Of course the next lines change everything. And they're lovely.
Lovely and timely.
The cycles of life, love, rebirth, the seasons and of hope ... even without the poignant (and gorgeous!) photo, you've captured the spirit of it all. Beautifully done, my sweet and gifted friend. Here's to perinneal new beginnings. Happy Easter!

May the warmest rays of sun find you this morning, Kate, as you rise. May they fill you with all their love.
Thinking of you from here ... with love ...
you got it! easter is rebirth.
out of the doldrums.
the winter doldrums.
the withering of everything,
the stark trees screaming for light...
spring has sprung, and so must you.
come alive again.

twilight is a mysterious time. messes up yer mind.
sometimes in a good way, like for this poem.................
Beautiful image and words
Its seems to be the way of life

Chicken Maaan: If only there was no more blood and suffering … but that of course is up to each and every one of us … to learn and understand … that we can make the difference.

Sheila: You know … today my face IS to the sun and I am beginning again. There is still that something below the surface but I am beginning again and trying to my darndest to move forward. Thank you … your lovely, wise words do speak to me.

Bellweather Vance: I’m glad you can see what I see! Big smile! : )

Marty’s Husband: Today IS a new day for me and I am starting all over again! Starting again OR laying down and dying … I choose life!
Jan: You made me laugh right out loud! THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

RomanticPoetess: Thank you, lovely, lovely lady! Best wishes.

hugs, me: It IS!!!!! My love and best wishes to you! : )

John: Easter is here and it is a wonderful day! HAPPY EASTER, JOHN!
catch-22: Thanks for believing in me, catch. Sometimes I doubt myself … I guess we all do at times …

Christine: You’re right … not just at Easter time! Happy Easter, Christine!

Poppi: Thank you. Happy Easter, Poppi!!! : )

Julie: Hey there, Jules!!! (Can I call you that too? I have a sister named Julie and I call her “Jules” a lot!) HAPPY, HAPPY EASTER! : )
Mary: Ah … THANK YOU! : )

Brown Eyed Girl: Hello! Thanks for coming by … it’s lovely to meet you!

Art: Jan cracked me up too! I laughed out real loud when I read his note! Commenters are a great joy to read indeed! As are you, dear Art … although I am sorry to hear you were falsely accused … I hope all was forgiven in the end. Happy Easter, Art!

Shutterbug: Thank you. Happy, Happy Easter!

Michelle: You are very kind and dear. Much love and peace also to you!

I Love Life: I DID take that picture BUT let me assure you, if it is ANY good it is just a FLUKE! I am NOT a photographer! Sometimes I get lucky and take something that seems okay … at least in my eyes. And, P, I know what you mean about sunsets being sort of sad …. Many a time I have watched the sun go down … watching it till that last little glint disappears and there is a kind of mood slip at that moment … but the trick is in knowing that it will rise again tomorrow … and with the morrow there are possibilities! HAPPY, HAPPY EASTER, P!
Rita: Ya gotta have hope, right? It wanes sometimes I’ll admit but without it, nothing seems possible. Without it, we die inside. Rita, can I tell you ... I am always a little tickled pink when you like something of mine. I feel like I have done well … and that’s because I look up to you and your poetry. So thank you for the smile today, Rita. : )

Lea: Hi Lea! I will! Happy Easter!

Hilarad: Thank you so much. Happy Easter to you!

Margaret: Thank you. I know there is a significant shift in the poem following those lines but it’s how it is sometimes, right? One day we’re feeling so down … feeling so helpless …. lost … and the next we can see the possibilities … everything might not be perfect … but the possibilities are there and we can choose to move toward them.

Jlsalthre: Thank you! It’s lovely to see you here! Happy Easter!
tr ig: HAPPY EASTER, Man of Few Words!!! Seriously, tr ig … Happy Easter. : )

eyespye: Oh my wonderful and dearly neglected friend! THANK YOU! I have neglected so many friends of late and I seem unable to put it right … so imagine my joy that so many of you do not give up on me … that you stay constant. Dare I think I am on the right side of my ‘malaise’?? Why not!!! HAPPY, HAPPY EASTER TO YOU TOO!!!

Stathi Stathi: What a lovely, lovely message! THANK YOU! Each of us has our gifts and to be totally honest I’m not sure that mine is poetry … I think it’s a little bit of poetry perhaps and I’m hoping it’s a whole lot of something else! Stathi (may I be so bold and abbreviate your name? I’m an Aussie you know and we do that … abbreviate people’s names … give them nicknames!) … Stathi, you have been here just a short while and already I have seen some of your gifts … beautiful photography … writing that crosses language barriers … but most of all … generosity, friendliness and kindness. It’s lovely getting to know you, Stathi. Happy Easter, new friend! : )
And Stathi ... no need to apologise for leaving me 4 comments! See! You ARE generous!

Seriously, we've all done that at times ... OS can be SO slow sometimes and we end up getting "trigger happy"!!! : )
anna1liese: I think someone heard you!!!! It’s like I did wake up this morning and I felt warmth and love for the first time in weeks and weeks and weeks! Anna1, I’ve ventured to the Truckstop quite often in recent times, even attempting to write a message a number of times, but the words just didn’t come … but please know I too have been thinking of you … from here … with love. Thank you, dear and lovely, anna1 ... thank you for always caring and sending love.
James: Spring has sprung there but Autumn falls here … but, James, what a glorious Autumn it is right now … today … Easter Sunday! Today, I feel stronger, rejuvenated … mindful that there lurks beneath the ‘doldrums’ … but feeling stronger and more alive, I am!

M.C.S.: I believe it is the way of life, MCS. Life is quite often not an easy road to travel and sometimes we move forward easily; other times we need to pause and survey our surroundings, get our bearings, make sure we are on the right path before we can move forward; and, at other times we need to stop and retrace our steps, go back and start again. Any or all of these routes can take an enormous amount of strength and courage to travel but the thing is knowing that we CAN change direction if we find we have taken the wrong road. Godspeed, MCS.
"New Beginnings" - you go girl!
tril: Thank you! You know, you're another that I feel as though I've neglected dreadfully of late. Thank you for always being here with encouragement! Love you!
It's beautiful, Kate.
But I worry a bit, I guess ...
Kim: You worry? About me???
Kim, don't answer that! Sorry. I shouldn't ask such a question really. Truth be told ... I've been doing it a bit tough ... well .. not just a bit ... but I am okay. Today is better ... brighter. I'll be fine.
And Kim ... Happy Easter. Much love.
Twilight is the magic time. A writer has described it as a time when a crack opens between our finite space and the infinite space that we have labeled "the cosmos." Yes, we sink down to the depths but recover that sense of life that makes life beautiful, worth living...Lovely picture...
The first bird has spoken just a few minutes ago as I was reading this Kate.
Thank you....
(((Kate))) of course you can call me Jules
and I'm glad today is good (is it still today there?...if not, I hope your current today is good again)
As usual, so heart felt and warm, emanating the hopefulness of lasting love. This is a gem, my dear.
A very nice re-post, Katie!
Patrick: You paint a lovely picture here too! Thank you for sharing and for being here too. Happy Easter, Patrick!

Mission: A bird to greet you on early in the morning sounds to me like a wonderful way to have started Easter Sunday! I hope it was just wonderful all day long! Happy Easter, Mission!

Jules: Thank you! Big smile! My current today IS good again! And Happy Easter again to you, Jules!

Cindy: Thank you so much, Cindy! Happy Easter! I hope it’s been a lovely family-filled day for you!

JD: Thank you. I just haven't been able to write a thing lately and this seemed fitting in more ways than one. Happy Easter, JD! : )
Love the photo, Kate...but would never go along with letting love of life fade, even for a moment.
Your so good. May Easter always start your year off with only good things and more.

Spike, I completely understand ...and I shouldn't think like that either but sometimes ... just sometimes ... I question things or find it hard to understand what it's all about. You know?

Algis, thank you so much for your good wishes.
Your thoughts spread into words speak to my soul. You must be inside my head, just a bit more eliquent with assembly of such thoughts.~
mmbennett: Thank you! Each new day does bring with it many possibilities, right? Sometimes we just need to follow our hearts and our dreams and help turn those possibilities into reality.

Wherever you go, no matter the weather, always take your own sunshine...
Kate, this was so calming and quieting. Such a breath of peace today, thank-you. Well done.
Cindy, it is kind of soul-nourishing and heart-warming to know that my poetry might possibly have that kind of affect on someone.

Thank you.
