Okay folks, here it is, your chance to meet your fellow OSers who are in Washington DC to witness the inauguration of Barack Obama!
WHEN:
Sunday, January 18, 2009
5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
WHERE:
Flying Fish815A King StreetAlexandria VirginiaWHAT TO EXPECT:
Beer and wine and soda on my tab. Everything else on yours. I am negotiating karaoke.
This BTW, is the sushi place that you may remember from the famous Sushi Edition of the now famous Iron Pundit series. For those of you who have always wondered what a Danny Deco roll is, here's your chance. They do have other things on the menu for those who are not sushi-inclined.
Alexandria is easily accessible by metro but the restaurant is a hike from the station. There are cabs and buses that can take you if you don't want to hoof it. Parking in Alexandria is always a problem, on weekends especially.
The party will be in the bar in the basement under my name.
SEE YOU ALL THERE!

If I can work it, there may even be a liveblog....after all...this IS Open Salon.
Eel, tuna, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
There WILL be partying here though, that I can guarantee. Are we going to have an online moderator for this event?
Just kidding, of course, it will be so fun to actually meet you, Liz, and all the other OSers who can come.
Lisa
I am so sorry that a lot of folks won't make it. We will eat plenty of sushi in honor of all the OSers, GT, but I will save a piece of eel just for you.
Cathy, you are SO on....you should know that I do get to travel quite a bit these days, so it could be sooner than you know.
gracie, roger, we'll miss you. Denis, it's one awful expensive cab ride, but we'd love to have you if you have the cash to spare.
Mama, fire up that broom. You won't be the only pagan in the crowd, believe me.
Joan K, c'mon, everybody's doing it.....(that enough peer pressure or do I need to ratchet it up some more?)
Artfish, lps, Saturn, I am so excited too! And Sally, you absolutely HAVE to make it, broken wing and all....
P-F if there are 4 million people at this party I am in for one hell of a bar tab.
Geoff W -- Hey, this is mostly an OS party, and you are a part of OS, even if you do hang out with bums like Pat Buchannan. You're totally welcome.
Well, I actually advanced an inaugural event in 1980 and unfortuntely made a headline that got me into a little bit of trouble. I was the second for the Young Republican's Ball that had a much lower ticket price than the others. When a reporter asked me why it was so much cheaper, I looked at him and said, "That's because they haven't inherited their money yet."
That got a lot of play the next day, and my buddy, the lead advance feigned ignorance as to whom on the team had made such an egregious utterance.
Inaugurals are a good time, and everyone should do one once, I think.
Kind of like going to a Super Bowl.
I'll be alone in the corner calculating the cost to me of removing the cap on social security given, as a small business owner, I pay 15.3% rather than 7.65% as well as the impact of the higher top rate and the potential impact of a universal health care plan.
The way I see it, I could be in for about a $30,000 pay cut, which is about what it costs to send a kid to college, and I have two in college at the moment.
Forgive me if I do not share your glee. :)
