OK, well, Kerry has thrown down the gauntlet and I know there are a whole pack of Bay Area OS peeps, so we should be able to put something together to rival anything in New York, Chicago, Chattanooga, Baton Rouge ... uh ... sorry, I've got this Chuck Berry tic that comes up from time to time ... anyway, yes! Let's!

As a former nightclub impressario and current denizen of the occasional watering hole I have a number of ideas for where we might convene, but let's see if we can get some commitment interest in comments below, and with a sense of how many might show up, we can pick an appropriate venue.

Next Thursday, April 16, time and place TBA. Who's in?

I never say no to champagne. Beats real pain.
Can you get the technology to work so I can at least drink remotely with you all?
Hi, Lonnie & fellow Bay Area OSers. Lonnie, thanks for taking on the task of putting this together. I'm sure it will be a delightful gathering.

I'm sorry to have to say, however, that due to temporary immobility induced by a injury (nothing serious, I hasten to add), there's no way I can manage to be there in person. I will lift a virtual glass and toast with you in spirit.

Have fun, folks!
Is Thurs. the 16th etched in stone, or might it be a few days earlier? I may be in the area (Santa Cruz) en route to Oregon for another gathering, and would love to fit this in if possible; but have to be in Oregon by the 17th. rsvp...?
I can drop by if it's after 700, I will be in SF for a meeting...then back to the country. Make it near the Tenderloin...!!
YES! I'm so in! Was busily PM'ing all you guys just now to do this same thing!
So glad you did this as a post, Lon! Brilliant! I've posted enough the last few days, so this is great!
Next Thursday it is!
Hope Joan can join us!
Organian, being the Mac freak that he is he can set up some macs with ichat.
Hey Lon - Any special attire? BYOB/W/L/D???

Don't get out much! ;)
Organian, sorry to hear of your immobility. We might be able to work a liveblog using LonnieCam so you can join us virtually. Stay tuned.

dyno, nothing's etched in stone as yet, though I'd personally like to try and make this coincide with the Thursday official date. What time and whereabouts in Oregon do you have to be on the 17th? Ashland is only a 5 hr drive from SF and SF is on the way up from Santa Cruz.

Stellaa, there are Tenderloin options if that's how you swing.

Just Cathy: something sexy, which should be no problem for you.
Damn, I was just in SF last weekend. Wish I could make it.
I'm in. Would be driving up from the South bay if anyone needs a ride...
That is where I do my "work"...LOL It's just that I will have parking, selfish that I am, remember, it's not about me, it's about parking.
I was in a meeting when Kerry's post went up! You beat me to it, but I appreciate it, Lonnie -- I'm in!
I will send a pic of my tootsies...
Geez, could you give me some notice? My son gave me a free airline ticket to SF to visit but I'm going to be biking somewhere with friends. It's tempting though...
Joan, I live to serve. I didn't intend to steal any official OS thunder, I promise.
You deserve the thunder -- we'll confer on the proper venue! Do you want to float ideas here, or do it some other way?
Funny Sandra!

Well, I'll want a full accounting of afternoon/evening/morning from all involved. My first face time with OSers--yourself included, Lonnie--was just about the ultimate. Hope you are well.
Count me in too! Would love to actually meet a few OSer's face to face :)
I was in SF last weekend for an interview and wanted to connect, but did not have enough time. Wish I could join you on the 16th. Will be thinking of the Open Salon cabal as I sip champagne alone in my cloistral apartments in Hollywood.
Yes, Lonnie’s hosted event, the lure of OS luminaries and the city by the bay as well as the editor in chief is great. And though an anniversary event in Los Angeles will pale by comparison, Monsier C., is there any way to tempt you from your cloisters?
Indeed, My dear Monsieur Chariot, you should try and make the LA event; no need to pine away by your lonesome in le petite escritoire!
Please don't go to a lot of trouble on account of lil ol me, but if you really want to try, let me know ahead of time and I'll try to "tune in." I have a good fast cable internet connection and a pretty up-to-date laptop, but no webcam or mike attached to it, so any participation on my part would have to be limited to text chatting.

I'll come back here and check to see what's happening with this.
I think I can make it from the East Bay over to SF that evening. Somewhere within walking distance of a BART station is appreciated. I'm leave it up to the SFers to choose a good venue, though!
a solid perhaps. sounds like fun. easy parking would be terrific, if possible. thanks Lonnie.
I would have loved to have come, but I have a meeting to attend to that night...
A Thursday, especially next Thursday is impossible for me.
This is very short notice, and how about a weekend? Rats.
I hope there will be more meet ups, and on weekends!
Damn, I'd love to be there, but that's a fur piece frum here. But if anyone wants to get together in the Knoxville/ Chattanooga area, I'm halfway between. Also halfway between Atlanta and Nashville. We can have some big fun in this tiny town without a traffic light. How about it?
Oh I get the Thursday Official date. I work in San Rafael until about 6:30 pm, There's a possibility I could get there around 8 pm...
hopefully some place not far from the GGB.
It's amazing, I never go anywhere and next Friday I'm going to
the Central Coast and LA to visit relatives for the weekend. And
this. It never rains but it pours.
Ooh, this literary kind of event with a request that it be near the Tenderloin just begs for the EDINBURGH CASTLE PUB! Also bart friendly. I wish I could be there. It's been ages since I've been there.
cartouche, I'll bring my wirless card and my webcam, and we will skype you. all you have to do is downlaod skype between now and then - it's free.
I have Skype and I will join you from Vancouver.
Can somebody swing by and pick me up in Buffalo?
I'm in, SF is only an hours drive from the Gratefuldan yurt in the Wine Country. Someone please pick a place.
We should have a place chosen before the weekend's out; thanks all for joining in!
How cool is this? Next week is my spring break and I was comin' down off the mountain anyway. Now I have one more terrific reason! I'll keep looking for details...thanks, Lonnie for spearheading this.
I think I can. I have "issues"--I can't stand for a long period of time, so I mostly don't do parties, but if there's a place to sit, absolutely. Put me and Mark Pritchard on the list.
I'm wondering that, too.

Also, this post is not showing up when you click on "View Responses" on the cover page under the anniversary announcement. Maybe it needs a different tag for that??
OK, looks like the correct tag is "anniversary party" so it will show up with the others. Might be important so people find this and we get more attendees.
