A Shrink's Epiphany. Open Call: What's Yours?

Rate: 5 Flag

Last night I had a high-energy dream of someone being transformed internally, and was told that "the superego must be integrated". Afterwards, I saw beautiful, multicolored cosmic flowers or Christmas-tree lights that rushed towards me.

I seldom dream in color. I have been through three therapists over thirty years, and have had my first conflict-free day of my life, even achy with a cold and battling winter depression. Everything feels different.

Freud's superego is the idealized and judgmental other, frequently childhood authorities or heroes, that lord it over the ego, in dream and psychically. I suppose I had a shrink's epiphany.

What dream- epiphany have you had this season?

This is an old dream, but I remember loving it. It's pretty simple. I wake up early and see that it has snowed and that my dog and I are the only ones in the whole city to see it. It was a very peaceful dream and it felt renewing somehow.
My most common dream is a nightmare really, involving me sitting on the deck of my childhood home, watching over the lake in our back yard, and watching as the lake becomes filled with a random assortment of wild safari animals and/or The Creature from The Black Lagoon.

I have no idea what it means, but it scares the willies out of me every time.

Then there are the dreams of me being awake and alert during any number of bloody, graphic surgical procedures...willies again
Hi Caroline, Very peaceful--Silent Night. Did you & your dog see the snow during or after the fall?

Hi Placebostudman, A lot coming out, so to speak. Ever try asking the creatures coming out what they want?
Well Lou, none yet. But there's still time... right?
Hi Trig, Time is on your side. Yes it is.
after the fall. What do you think that means, doctor? :)
Snow fall, night fall--Silent Night.
In one dream there is a house with 2 lions in it, they are hanging out upstairs and I am surprised they are there, and they emanate pure nobility, strength and wisdom. In another dream there is a deep layer of junk on the floor of the hotel room, items which are useless or tossed aside, but among the junk is a rolled up scroll which turns out to be a priceless painting, like a Monet or something. It seemed to me that both dreams were about lost/potential power - that I was throwing my power and talent away, but it wasn't gone yet, it was still there lurking in the junk, like the painting, or quietly hanging out and waiting for me to remember they are there, like the lions.
Hi Lorelei, The two lions remind me of the statues in front of the NY Public Library. That adds books to the art work waiting for you. I checked your page and saw both art & literature in your profile. Don't leave them waiting too long!
