Time Flies When You're Having Fun

Rate: 15 Flag

My first post on Open Salon was exactly six months ago on June 22. "Time flies when you're having fun" is such a true statement. I never knew how much pleasure I would get out of writing when I first stopped by.

Various Artists post first brought me over here when I discovered another person who had saved every concert ticket stub like I have done (mine date back to 1976).

And before I knew it, I had a whole slew of people I was following. Then, I got a few comments on  posts I'd written. Oh my gosh, someone actually read something I'd written outside of my family! It didn't take long before I felt right at home thanks to the kindness, encouragement, and feeling like I was part of a new community.

So thanks to anyone and everyone who has ever bothered to read or comment on things I have posted.

Thanks to those who continue to inspire me as a writer.

Thanks to those who challenge my thinking.

Thanks to those who inspire me to be a better person through their example.

Thanks to those who have unselfishly given of themselves to me. I'm humbled by your kindness.

Thanks to the many musicians who are fodder for my writing.

I hope OS is here to stay and that I can continue to grow while writing on this site. It's the first place I check in on in the morning while I sip a steaming cup of coffee to see who has posted something new to read or catch up on all the clever comments left around the site, and the last place I check  before laying down my head and ponder the latest words that caught my attention.

Off I go to work on the next piece...

I am honoured to be one of your readers.. As for Various.. he is one swell guy with a lot of music knowledge. The fact he lives in Ottawa does not make him too shabby either..:)
rated with huge hugs this morning
Thank you, Linda, for your warm words, your hugs that I can feel across the internet, and your presence on OS. It is felt in a big way by me everyday, and many, many others lucky enough to converse with you.
Hugs & hot cocoa on this foggy morning.
Congratulations - I just joined yesterday.
Helen: Welcome! I hope you enjoy your time here.
I love your Wall. You should check out Coliris. You can make a fanstactic wall of you own and you it as a background or many other things. I saw one on our Facebook site that was all Beatles. So cool! I haven't done one yet because I never have the time, but I'm going to soon. It's a great site! Congrats on six months!
scanner: Thanks, friend! That one on our Facebook wall that is all Beatles is me,silly! LOL
I am a regular reader - and "thank you"! Congratulations!
Catherine: In addition to loving just about anything you post I have learned more tech-y things from you in 6 months here on OS that I have in all other areas of my life. Thank you for that. I keep a running list: Catherine Says...
I'm glad you're here, there's so much I didn't know and I always appreciate your words. Thanks for the video, I had a huge smile watching and remembering.
Happy 6 monthversary, schmoopie. Here's to many more 6 months at a time and a happy holiday season. It's great to have you in our little OS family. Cheers ! ~r
l'heure: Thanks for your kind words. I love reading your posts and appreciate your candor.
Your posts have been fun to see.
Merry Christmas from another one of your numerous followers. Your love of music coincides with my taste and so it is always a joy to read your posts.
Amazing how this site becomes a valuable part of everyday life. I've only been on three months and I feel the same way.

Your community building wheel sums it up well :-)
Yep, got to love this place!!!!! :)

Of course, rated.

Here's to more time as possible on here!!!
So glad I found you here. Am SO jealous of your ticket stub collection. I bought a book with all the bands & dates from the Fillmore East and tried to remember who I saw and even that was hard (it was the 60's!)
Thank you for all the wonderful words you have shared with us in your posts and in your always kind comments.

Thank you to Various for bringing you on board. I hope that you continue to write for us and that the new year of life and writing are very good for you. r
Thank you all for the good wishes. I enjoy my time here very much and want to work on improving as a writer by reading all of you.
Congrats lschmoopie and thanks for the shout out (and to you to, Linda, you're fab yourself) -- I am happy I could have played a small part. I always enjoy your posts, particulaly the music/ian tributes that you lovingly put together. Here's hoping that OS sticks around and that you'll be doing plenty more writing in 2011.
VA: Thanks for leading me to the yellow brick road! I hope you have more time in 2011. I need more of your concert stories and to continue my class: Punk Rock 101. Love ya!
