I'm watching MSNBC and Todd is rapping with Matthews about the comedic routines and stylings of Senators McCain and Obama and Matthews actually said RULE when describing Senator McCain and Senator Obama. As in one of these two guys will RULE the country.
Yes, evidently the president RULES now.
Interestingly, Matthews backtracked a few seconds later to amend that it could be a gal next time around, but did not correct RULE.
I was under the impression our president leads and governs. Kings, emperors, emirs and shah's RULE.
If I can get a Youtube of it, I'll post it later.

I love how you stay on top of things
Rob St Amant, Hah! Sorry about putting an e where the a belongs yesterday. I often fail to proof before posting.
Bill S, I am still shaking me head. No sign on YouTube yet.
RickyB, I get the humor and did chuckle, but the comment made in complete seriousness and was directed to both Senator Obama and Senator McCain as in (I paraphrase):
It was great to watch them get up and be funny considering one of the two of them would be the guy who would rule the country.
I refuse to let you pick on Matthews. We just lost Timmy Russert and we need all the good humored, good hearted history buffs and red faced political geeks we can get :)
He even got Arnie Vinnick to answer his question about judges!!
At a time when politicians are dividing this country into the "American" and "Anti-American" the last thing we need is more division.
Matthews is Russert, he's a good natured, curious and thoughtful which is a far cry from the Hannities of the world assaulting people.
I'm an adult and I can think for myself..I don't need their BIAS opinions!!!! They don't care what they say..especially if it isn't true. They both just think everyone is just going to believe them..
I DON'T THINK SO!!!
I just want to hear honesty and unbias info about the subjects and then I'm old enough to make my own decision.
I no longer watch MSNBC and have written the Editor many times stated why. No one at MSNBC cares because their EGO'S are to big.
Russert was much more even-handed, thorough, and frankly, less shrill (according to politicos, I'm not supposed to say "shrill" concerning a man, but it's true). I am a huge supporter of Barack Obama, but I find Matthews' pie-eyed schoolboy crush on the man a little nauseating.
As far as "rule," if Dubya's peeling away at the Constitution were to go any further, Matthews' choice of words would be spot-on.
Astute observation, but as others have said, that is basically what the current administration has attempted to create; a sort of monarchy.
I don't see that either Matthews or Russert are worthy of so much adoration. They both contributed mightily to the Bush regime's propaganda campaign, and Matthews has a long way to go to make up for that. Obviously, Russert is unable to do so.
