Just say thank you

Rate: 19 Flag

I am told "thank you for your service" all the time here in San Antonio and even something that simple is more than I ever expected.  It renews my pride as a veteran.  Make a veteran's day and say thank you.  (Not to me - but to someone you know in real life)

Not many people serve these days.  It is a shame.  Honor the troops, they deserve it.

I don't know you personally, LT, but I'll say "Thank you" to you, anyway.

Thanks for the reminder.
From one Vet to another: Thanks, Pal, for doing your bit....same goes for every other Vet out there.

Joe
Excellent Veteran's Day post. Even though you said not to you, thank you for your service. Military service is a sacrifice and commitment that takes a special kind of person to make.

The sight of the flag-draped casket is so hard to see, knowing it contains the body of someone who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. There is a debt of gratitude that is so deep, it leaves me speechless and sad.

That any veteran should have to beg on the streets in this country is terrible. Shame on the government that allows this to happen to its servicemembers.

Thank you to all veterans.
You are very welcome. It has been my honor and pleasure to serve. The Navy made me what I am today. They gave me purpose and a calling, self discipline and an education in life as well as books. They provided daily opportunity to make a difference. Also, serving only repaid a fraction of the debt I owe to my country for the daily freedoms I enjoy.

Service runs in my family and in many ways the Navy was inevitable for me. But I wouldn't have done it different.

Despite what some say about the military in these difficult times, I still recommend it to all young men and women who ask.

Joe -- I appreciate your service as well. Nothing better than a savvy petty officer with their shit together to keep a butter bar out of trouble.
Here is a big Thank YOU! Stand by for all those benefits you have been denied.
rijaxn, that lady whose backside you so admire is going to make a difference for us vets and our families. You just watch. M. Obama has picked her first cause and I anticipate action.
LT, thank you for this early reminder of what day it is today. I thank all vets for their service. I am also so very glad that the veterans of our most recent wars are honored when they return home unlike during the Vietnam war in which our soldiers did not feel the hero's welcome as they should have.
Yesterday, our Iraqi war vet did a beautiful presentation on his tour of duty in order to help us understand a little bit of what our service men and women endure for our sake. It had many people in tears.
So, I thank you, LT, and you, Joe Blow, and our other veterans and their families.
Thank you LT and to all veterans today. You are not forgotten and much appreciated.
Thanks for everything, LT...

I've also called my Vietnam vet dad, and we called the Peanut's Papaw who served in both WWII and the Korean War.
Thank you, LT. Your service means a lot.
Thanks for your service LT.
(I saw your comment and I appreciate it)
Here, here! Right on! God bless our men and women in uniform this day and everyday! We are safer for their comittment and dedication to defend our freedoms and pursuit of happiness.
They all deserve our fervant support and grattitude!
I only have a minute as I'm heading out the door to spend the day with my veteran....my husband.
We put the flag up together this morning but I forget to tell him "thank you.''
I shall do it soon as I get off here.
My husband is my hero as he almost lost his life when he was on a remote tour to Korea in '83.
But he lived and came back to me.
And, he has been blessing my life ever since!
(he was in the Air Force for 15 years.)
Today, on Veteran's Day, I give thanks to him and all the other veterans...true heroes!

Thank you, LT, for your service!

Margie
Reading this a little late :) but Thanks LT!
That's what happens when I'm gone for a day - I miss an important post, and then almost a week goes by before I find out.

I didn't serve, LT, but my father did (Radioman First Class in the Navy) and many of my friends have served. I tell them what I tell you now, I am always proud of our soldiers and appreciate their sacrifice on my behalf.

Thanks for making sure our troops are remembered on Veteran's Day.
I don't know you personally but we're family (military family at least...which is the family you choose) so THANKS! Although ENLISTED IS THE BEST!
