Japan's First Lady won a very special prize on Monday. A coveted prize actually, as exciting to her as the Nobel is to our President.
Miyuki Hatoyama, the former actress, who has said she communed with Tom Cruise in a past life, won the Best Jeanist Award along with a couple of musicians and actors.
Her reaction? She said she had coveted the prize for a long time, and was happy to win. I have long wished to win the prize, as I'm a big fan of jeans.
Hatoyama was told that she wears jeans with a sense of spirit and style by the Japan Jeans Association. She was awarded the prize based on her ability to wear jeans with grace and a touch of whim. She replied that jeans are easy to wear. And coincidentally, she met her husband, Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, the former Stanford student, while they were communing in jeans in a current life, back in the 1970's.
Undoubtedly denim jeans were a practical mainstay for her exotic travels later on. Like when her soul traveled (sans Tom Cruise) to outer space on a triangular shaped UFO? Destination? Venus.
Welcome to the opening of fashion week in Tokyo.

Vely nice!
Cap'n - then you certainly would love Miyuki!
Naples - she does love the denim
Steve - of course it does. I recall her leather pants days.
Andy - if I had to guess, I think she already might be.
Buffy - not sure Paris knows where Tokyo is.

That's just odd.
This is a great way to try and improve the damaged image of jeans.
