Welcome to the beginning of the Sarah Palin book tour, starring just a girl from Wasilla. SP has been writing furiously on her Facebook page spreading the word about the truthiness of Going Rogue. Or not so much, according to the AP.
Today, she begins with an appearance on the Oprah show.
This is undoubtedly one of the most exciting things to happen to Sarah from Wasilla. Most writers have to actually write a book to get a book tour, and even then, it might be iffy. Palin merely had to hang out with a very patient ghost writer for a few painful weeks.
On her Facebook page, Sarah gabs about how exciting her time in Chicago was with Oprah and the gang. She taped the show last week.
"Willow, Piper, and I are in Chicago and just wanted to let you know that I had a great conversation with Oprah today. We taped the show for Monday, November 16th, and enjoyed it so much that we went way over on time. The rest will air on Oprah.com. Oprah was very hospitable and gracious, and her audience was full of warm, energized and (no doubt) curious viewers. "
This entry, cleverly written by Sarah's ghost (um, the grammar is way to too perfect), has over a thousand comments on Facebook, all addressed to BFF Sarah. Some of the comments are frightening in that same way where you are witness to a car wreck about to happen, but are powerless to intervene.
Some BFFs are warning her about the great satan-Oprah who drinks from the same fountain as that socialist commie, Obama. That Oprah will trick her into saying something regretful - as though SP cannot do that on her own.
Other comments are intimate, as though speaking to a confidante or best friend about things best whispered over coffee, rather than the virtual world of the internet. Some warn her about other commenters who are mean. Others cite bible quotes or refer to biblical passages to aide SP's venture. Others want to know when she will visit with them in person.
And the theme of the day is God. Sarah is doing God's work. We need to unite around God's work. Obama is not doing God's work. Liberals are not supporters of God's work.
And as we get closer to the book release, the notes on SP's Facebook page get more edgy - they take on the media, as well as any cause de jour. Palin (um, ghostwriter) scolds the AP for getting an early copy of the book and pointing out the factual errors. According to SP, the media is once again making things up. Read her note scolding them here. Rest assured, the Conservatives4Palin are setting the record straight. Thank goodness.
With the book dropping this week, SP is on the road to small towns - the real America according to her. No big cities are slated for Rogue's show and tell.
No doubt, this last soundbite is her very own. Perhaps the ghost was taking a stress-busting-dark-chocolate-covered-valium break?
"As you probably have heard, the AP snagged a copy of my memoir, Going Rogue, before its Tuesday release. And as is expected, the AP and a number of subsequent media outlets are erroneously reporting the contents of the book. Keep your powder dry, read the book, and enjoy it! Lots of great stories about my family, Alaska, and the incredible honor it was to run alongside Senator John McCain.
We can't wait to hit the road and meet so many on the book tour! See you in Michigan first..."
Can't wait for the sequel. Sarah Palin, Making Things Up Again.

Only in America.
Thanks for the update. R
Myriad - really good question. I would say that over 70% of her FB "friends" who comment bring up God's work. It is a singular theme, and for me, disturbing that someone who is not a religious leader, like a Priest or Rabbi would invoke that kind of following. Fringe, perhaps?
Julie - thank you. the Salon/AP story is interesting. And I love SP's rebuttal, or should I say the conservatives4Palin rebuttal. She doesn't even have the moxie to do it herself. For so many reason I am guessing.
Emma - that was hilarious and perfect - get it in writing. and yep, only in America, although Sarkozy is another funny funny character too. I bet if we were to ask SP, she would say she has it in writing. Remember the vodoo church episode? : )
ronnieray- hehehe. 5? yikes. you'd have thought they could cover it in 3!
Lea - great line! and yep, I can see the musical, sadly. you really hit it on the head. SP does bring out that special vacuum of something or other - and her followers seem to be guided by the same. Facebook value! Hehehehe.
John - Going Home, the SP Musical. Script written by J. Blumenthal and Skip Williams......
Stellaa - The comments about Oprah are as frightening as the ones about Obama on SP's FB pages. Barbara Walters meets with Palin next. But I hear Katie Couric is on the (will not talk to) no fly list for the book tour.
patricia - ditto.
Ash - fruitbats sounds about right. amazing that enough different humans exist who can sound like that.
mtk - it is very scary. they worry me.
Ann - thank you!
Stellaa - really good question. wish I knew. can't be ratings?
Ablonde - she does have fanatic followers like that. scary.
Michael - she fulfills a need for the ultra right of the RNC - the guys that are clubbing together to bring God and goodness back to our communities - to save us from ourselves.....seriously. She has been appointed cheerleader par excellence and will remain there until she is no longer useful. One can hope that is sooner rather than later. Max Blumenthal has a great write up on the cover of Salon about this and more today. It is a good read.

He said she's lying.
So people who did actually watch the show what is your verdict?
Maybe teachers, in the ghetto.
