In this week’s KC Active, I put a stake through New Moon, the vampire movie for people who prefer their vampires sparkly instead of scary. If that’s your choice, we’ll have to sit down for a drink of O’Doul’s. Anyway, there are a lot of folks who like their vampires “vegetarian” and their beer alcohol-free.

If you’re looking for a movie about adolescence that doesn’t condescend to the audience the way parents sometimes talk down to their teens, try the clever and well-acted An Education.

Last week, the entertaining soccer movie The Damned United defeated the self-destructing 2012 as the choice for moviegoers with limited budgets and functioning brains.
