All of these are trees near where I work and live. I pass the running guy coming and going every day. The eye watches me when I fix my coffee behind Burger King. And the little kid sitting under the tree by the water got knocked away by a storm a few days after I took its picture. When I said I needed to stop on the way home one day and take a picture of the branch that looked like a kid about to run in front of my car, both of my kids knew exactly what I was talking about. That made me feel much better about their sensitivities. The whole world is personified for them, too.
My mom always took gorgeous photos of trees as she and my dad traveled. It drove him nutty, but I think she understood that trees are old souls. Did you ever read "The Wild Trees"? Talk about old souls - the trees in that book are awesome! I love how trees always manage to create a kind of symmetry, no matter how deformed they appear to be at first glance.
