Palin: “So Sambo beat the bitch!”

“So Sambo beat the bitch!”

This is how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination.

Read the rest at the LA Progressive. I don't think any commentary is necessary. Spread the word.

This isn't going to go anywhere, as it's hearsay. She may well have said it, but a single, unnamed source isn't credible.

And frankly, even if the waitress were to come forward, she's one person against the entire GOP. Palin wouldn't even bother with issuing a denial. Her press aide would say, "That's preposterous," and that would be that.
She is one nasty peice of work.
Some will reprise that comment with glee on the first Wednesday in November.
I'm suspicious that this is legit. I didn't read the whole LA Progressive article (got boring) but it seems most of the juicy bits are attributed to someone who won't provide their full name. "Out of fear", of course, which makes it sound just that much more menacing.

I think the opposite should in fact be true. If I had facts with irrefutable proof on a candidate right now that would show that person to be someone who should never be president, I would gladly go on TV and do the deed. Far from it being risky, it would probably make me a hero and I'd make a lot of money.

So, I'll wait and see whether first, any real accusations are made, and second, whether any of it is backed up with facts.
McGarret50 makes a good point, but there were plenty of such potential "heroes" in 2000, people who stood up and testified to the incurious, reckless, ineffectual executive George W Bush would be if he were to be elected, and look where that got us.

Again, I am of the opinion that we don't need any sensationalist testimony of outrageous behavior or smoking guns or skeletons in the closet to defeat the McCain/Palin ticket. On the very face of it, their policies and programs are antithetical to the interests of a strong and free nation, destructive of the careful stewardship responsibilities the majority of Americans understand to be history's calling.
If, as a lawyer, Mlle B, you were presented with this newspaper article as evidence of your client's character, how would you handle it?
This is hearsay, gossip, catty, petty and small.

Let's focus on the policy issues-there's plenty of material to rip apart there.
Of course she said it.
This is the party that will do anything, say anything without fear of any recrimination.
SP is a propagandist's hand puppet. She's being sold like hair conditioner.
The source wouldn't make any money by going public.

And I agree, it's a strange thing to say, and on the surface, seems incredible. (Meaning, untrue.)

Who references "Sambo" anymore?

Ripping apart policy issues is how Democrats lose.

What is it about this fact that you idealists find so hard to understand? Reps fight dirty, we fight clean, we lose. Your precious integrity and principles aren't worth much if you've lost, you're out of power, and can't implement any of your ideas or policies.

This isn't a court of law, this is the political arena. Our opponents have been basing their campaign on innuendo and lies, and they are tied with Obama, who by all accounts should be winning in a landslide in every poll in this political environment.

It's time to fight back so we can save the Supreme Court and implement our good ideas.
So we have to give up our precious integrity and principles to win. The end justifies the means. We have to become our enemy to defeat our enemy.
Biblio, in a word, yes, and I think anyone who thinks we can win with clean hands is someone whodidn't learn the lessons of 2000 and 2004.
Anyone who thinks we can't win with clean hands is viewing the picture myopically. Think like Gandhi, think like King. Think like a zen warrior.

If we become our enemy in order to defeat our enemy, all is lost.
That's amazing a political figure thinks she can talk that way without repercussions. On the other hand the guy who wrote the article is not much better:

"No wonder the vast sea of white, cheering faces at the Republican Convention went wild for Sarah: They adore the type, it’s in their genetic code. "

Genetic code? What is that supposed to be battling racism with racism?
We seem intent on bringing a knife to a gun fight.

She.Said.It!
Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, Tell everyone you meet.

Think Michelle said "whitey"?
Google "michelle obama whitey" - 63,000 references!
Shall we blame liberal elites on that too?

McCain/Palin will stop at nothing to ensure theirs is the only voice that will get heard.
Lonnie and Biblio, like Caruso said, it seems you want to bring a knife to a gunfight. Now, it might be in your principles to not use guns, but then you'll be dead, so how much will those principles be worth if you're dead?

Every Democratic surrogate should be on TV right now screaming about how DARE Sarah Palin disparage Obama's community service experience and spending an hour discussing this Sambo comment.

That's how to win. If the Dems don't do this, and they lose, well, then they're idiots, frankly, because doing the same thing repeatedly (not fighting dirty) and expecting different results is the definition of insanity.
Idiots and losers, with no testicular fortitude.
I see a pretty big difference between smearing someone with lies and gossip versus attacking them with facts. There are plenty of facts for us to use on them, one of which you mentioned. Attack Palin for sneering at Obama's community service. Attack McCain for following Bush's failed policies. Attack them for having no ideas on the economy. Attack them for having failed the servicemembers who have to keep returning to the Iraq and Afghanistan. Attack them for abandoning New Orleans. Attack them for running American concentration camps. Attack them with new ideas for providing health care to everyone. We don't need to stoop to lies to get theses bastards. The truth should be more than enough and I predict it will be enough.

You do what works, hon, not what you think SHOULD work. You don't attack the Nazis with hugs and kisses because you think that SHOULD work, you use guns and bombs and tanks because that's what actually works.

I care enough about this country to put it first, ahead of my desire to not lie and have clean hands.
Maybe. It'll be interesting to see if your method works. We already know it works for the republicans, not sure it will work for the democratic voters, but we'll see.
"They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. *That's* the *Chicago* way! And that's how you get Capone."
(Oh Sean!)

The Bush/Cheney/McCain troika is in direct assault of our Constitution. We can either do something about it or get on our knees. If they felt they could achieve their goals buy putting a bullet into your child's brain they would not hesitate a second.

Here on OS we can discuss the ethics of actions. I fully understand I'm off in the Bakunin wilderness with my views. But I also understand that civil discourse leads to solutions.

The current gang in power recognize no such restrictions.
