Give me a Break...I could've called this ..."Catcher In The Wry"!
I just saw the new Movie "Moneyball" starring Brad Pitt & I smiled to myself as I watched; because I'm the last person who should be at a Baseball Movie! You see, every so often; I used to kid my Baseball loving husband & ask:
"What Quarter is it"?
But that was always after trying to shock him by walking around nude to get his attention away from Sports! Sadly - the only rise I'd usually get was one of those quick fake patronizing smiles; all the while not taking his eyes off the TV Screen!
Once I tried to put all the clothes I owned on in front of him - like a Bag Lady - and he still didn't react! But then I found that during a Game; you can ask your mate for anything & he'll say "Yes"!
A new Car - "Yes". A 6 week Cruise - "Yes".
A "Coach" Pocketbook - "Yes". A Divorce - "Yes"!
See...he wasn't listening!
This Movie should have been called "BRAD" - not only because he was in every Scene - but because that's who I dreamt of after I saw the Movie! Let me tell you before I forget:
"He gave up Angelina for me"!
Hey - I'm The Director & The Producer of the Dream; aren't I?
I take that back; Brad wasn't in every Scene. But when Actor Stephen Bishop appeared - Wow! He had so much Star Power & oomph; I spritzed my drink all over the next Row! And the Case comes up next Thursday!
Mark my words - "Denzel - move over"! And what the heck - "Brad Pitt too"!
Was I surprised when I found out that Brad's love interest in "Moneyball" was - Junk Food! He was eating so many snacks during the movie - I ran out twice to get Raisinets! You wouldn't believe "Meat Loaf" - but my kids would! ha ha
Talk about False Advertising - Talented Actress Robin Wright got Top Billing in all the Ads. That made me think there would be some steamy Man/Woman Action coming! The only explanation is that her lines were on the Cutting Room Floor.
But my bet is - Angelina Jolie gave Brad an Ultimatum:
"It's either That Tramp or My Lips! And just so you know I'm serious... Tonight....1 Lip"!
And who can ignore a Fav Comic Actor, Jonah Hill. He's lost a great deal of weight now - but he was so large; when he entered a Scene - there was no need for a Set Designer or Prop Master - there just wasn't room! Good thinking; they saved money right there!
Obviously, you're not going to get a lot of insight into the Movie's nuts & bolts from me - even though I've certainly been exposed to it! My late husband played Softball all his life & reveled in his "Orioles Fantasy Camp" Adventure & there's my Grandson's 9 year presence & passion in his Field of Dreams.
But for those who do follow The Great American Pastime - this upcoming Academy Award nominated Hit will make you think - not about Sabermetrics, Big Sport Salaries or Rosanne Barr's Singing - but a wonderful game called "BALL"!

I abhor baseball and yet have a date to go see this film...and I'm looking forward to it!
Somehow I doubt Angelina has to make many ultimatums, though.
