At this past Sunday's 68th Annual Golden Globes Awards Soiree; 2nd time Host, Comic/Actor/Writer/Director Ricky Gervais killed! His Career!
Either that - or he'll be bigger than Elvis!
So he stepped on a few manicured toes when he gave Hollywood Stars the finger. Some of the Recipients of said finger were Charlie Sheen, Robert Downey Jr., Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, The Head of the Event & Cher!
I don't know about the rest of them; but he shouldn't have messed with Cher - she knows how to show & kick ass!
As soon as his first joke hit the fan base; he was down & out in Beverly Hills! But my Take on the whole brouha (that's right) 1 Ha - is that Ricky treated the evening like "A Roast".
Two different Animals: One, you want to "Skewer" & the other you just want to "Fondue"!
But the latter is much harder on the Ball Gowns & Hair Extensions!
While those at the Black Tie Affair thought Ricky's jokes were mean spirited & offensive; being a big Fan, my feeling was that the material was in fact - dated! Who wants to hear another Charlie Sheen Alcohol/Hooker Joke?
On the new CNN "Piers Morgan TV Show; Ricky was interviewed after "The Baptism by Fire"; except it wasn't for Gervais, as he proudly proclaimed he was an Atheist at the end of the Awards Night.
As usual; Piers was biting & thorough in his pursuit of shame - but came up empty as Ricky said as far as he's concerned - there's no reason to apologize, not ashamed of anything he did & there are no Taboo Subjects.
He also said there was an Elephant in the Room that night. He didn't say the Elephant's name; but I think all the gals backstage were adjusting their "Spanx"!
Finally he told Piers, the Evening wasn't a total loss; Robert DeNiro wants to work with him in his next Film, "Go Focker Yourself"!
