Be a good reader: part two
There are lots of posts on OS with suggestions on how to become a better writer. I thought it might be worthwhile talking about how to become better readers. This is the second in a series of posts discussing how I think we can release our inner reader.
Some writers here… Read full post »
Be a good reader: part one
Words matter.
For most of us, words are the only tool with which we can communicate in this fascinating on-line medium. Yes there are the fortunate few that can express themselves very effectively with their visual art, but sadly the majority of us don’t have those skills to draw on.
&nbs/…Thank you for your service
To all the veterans (including my grandfather) and to those in active service: thank you.
We cannot take the freedom that you fought and fight for lightly.
Today is Remembrance Day and today I write my thanks. Tomorrow is “just another day” but I will be thankful still.

Canada’s Preemptive Strike II (or We're Watching You)

Like I usually do, I thought about it for a minute or two. My first synopsis was “putting lipstick on the pig of flaunted ignorance”. Upon further reflec… Read full post »
The Bible – Proof that God is Evil
I’m going to concede some points about God for the sake of argument:
- God exists.
- God, either authored or inspired, the Bible.
- God is omnipotent
I’m also going to put forward the following points that I believe to be true, but would welcome correction on:
- Humans, including/ … Read full post »
Pathetic bullies of terrorism
Christian fundamentalists are the pathetic bully of the terrorism world.
It sure takes a real set of “values” to terrorize women when they are at their most vulnerable.
It sure proves the superiority of your morals when you shoot the unarmed doctors who are legally helping… Read full post »
Intelligence is a finite resource
I’m not a young man but not so old that “Leave it to Beaver” forms any part of my memories of youth.
I’m just saying I’ve been around for a while. And it seems to me that people are getting dimmer. Slower on the up-take, if you will.
I have a… Read full post »
There are no giants.
“If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants” – Isaac Newton
If you are an optimist and/or a believer in the best of others then you are likely to think after reading this famous quote by Newton that he was expressing honest humility and a… Read full post »
