Paul Ryan and Ayn Rand

Rate: 2 Flag

Paul Ryan is potentially the next Vice President of the United States. Many of you might be asking- who in the hell is Paul Ryan? In  recent CNN poll about 38% of the population has never heard of him.

One thing you may want to know while getting to know Representative Ryan is why he decided to get into public service-who inspired him? Jesus Christ? No. The founding fathers? No. Roosevelt? Reagan? No and no.

According to Paul Ryan, the reason he got into public life: Ayn Rand- the atheist whack-job pop philosopher!

For those of you unfamiliar with Ayn Rand, check out this video:

Paul Ryan & Ayn Rand vs. Jesus

Also, here are a few quotes you should get familiar with:

Ayn Rand:

“Belief in god is a sign of psychological weakness”

"Jesus (or perhaps His interpreters) gave men a code of altruism, that is, a code which told them that in order to save one's soul, one must love or help or live for others. This means, the subordination of one's soul (or ego) to the wishes, desires or needs of others, which means the subordination of one's soul to the souls of others"

Gee-you would think a good Catholic like Ryan claims to be would have a problem with such a person.  No so.  Ryan praises Ayn Rand and cites her as his inspiration:

Paul Ryan: "But the reason I got involved in public service, by and large, if I had to credit one thinker, one person, it would be Ayn Rand."

The election is over if the Democrats decide to make the connection between Ryan than this nutty pop philosopher. To say that Ryan is out of the mainstream is a huge understatement.

Lawrence O'Donnell says it all here:

The Last Word With Lawrence ODonnell Paul Ryan denounces Ayn Rand Rewrite

Here is another video you have to see:

The Truth About GOP Hero Ayn Rand

Ayn Rand's mission is carried on today by The Atlas Society. The organization's website (www.atlassociety.org) includes a video of Ryan praising Ayn Rand. The organization is proud of the influence that they have had on Republicans-and they seem especially proud of Paul Ryan. They should be. After all, they may be on the brink of having one of their own a heartbeat away from the presedency. Scary isn't it?

The political commercial that I’d like to see: 15 seconds of Ayn Rand talking about her hatred of religion and democracy followed by 15 seconds of Paul Ryan praising Ayn Rand. Play this over and over and the election will be over.

President Obama- are you listening?

Maybe the commercial could include that Ayn Rand was a recipient of Social Security and Medicare. Ironic, isn't it?

In the meantime, please share this post with everyone you know-especially your Tea Party and Republican friends.

I've read her books, including the one that has since disappeared that was titled "The Law" in which her economic philosophy was laid out clearly without the obfuscation of characters in novels.

I rather liked how clearly she shows American style dog-eat-dog capitalism up for what it really is; a heartless, inhuman, inhumane economic system that she, and other elitists think ought to be the model for out social system as well as our economic one.

Her characters are rather unbelievable and her story line is weak to the point of being laughable. She re-advances all the old, tired, unlikely scenarios of greed as a good thing. Her writing skills are just fine. What she uses those skills for does the cause of real capitalism no favour at all.

Those who take her "philosophy" seriously must have IQs in the single digits - if lucky!
.
I wonder how the Religious Right would feel about Ryan/Rand if it's pointed out to them that Anton La Vey's 'Satanic Bible' is basically a regurgitation of Rand's philosophies. La Vey admired and followed her 'philosophies' and based much of his 'Church Of Satan' around them.
