Join me in a campaign to defeat the Amy Formula C-Section monster. I am horrified to what irresponsible lengths the editors will go to attract hits and ads. We should be picketing them.
I was a childbirth educator and breastfeeding counselor for over ten years. Two of my children were born at home. I realize most of us ignore Dr. Amy, but a distressing number of people mistake fanaticism for professional knowledge.
I am going to use OS Editor to start posting links to excellent back posts on breastfeeding and childbirth. I urge you to repost what you have previously written, no matter how old it is.
When I was pregnant with my first girl in 1973, standard pregnancy books told you to avoid an obstetrician whose C section rate was over 5 percent.
I highly recommend the Facebook Group, Birthing Beautiful Ideas, a feminist guide to pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding.

I, too, am deeply ashamed that Salon has decided to give her attention. I've been reading and promoting (and when I could, financially supporting) Salon for over a decade, and I don't think I can in good conscious continue to tell people that Salon is an accurate news source any longer. Not if "Doctor" Amy is going to be touted as an expert.
Thank you so much for this effort. I remember very clearly being a young mother and how vulnerable I was to misinformation, and bullying.
