Until then, I go for universal healthcare and making friends with anarchists, hippies, fellow-travelers, philosophers, actors, and other troublemakers. And, of course, da queers. So I'm pinko. Does that make me more Canadian than anything else? How queer are they in Canukistan? And can they put me up for the night--you know, just in case? In other words, just your typical OS blogger.

Republican WWII Veteran Stands Up for Marriage Equality

I'll get back into the swing of things writing for this blog.  

In the meantime, a million thanks to Wayne Bryant of the BIACT-L listserv for bisexual activists, who alerted us all to an 86 year-old veteran's testimony for marriage equality in Maine.  People like this make me proud to be an American.

Wow. That old guy (god bless him) made me cry.

Earlier today I made a $100 donation to Protect Maine Equality (and encourage EVERYONE else to donate as well!). The problem is that was just a drop in the bucket compared to fuckers like the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, which gave more than $270,000.

A huge donation like that can buy enough advertising to swing an election. I previously lived in California and saw equality taken away just like they are trying to do again in Maine. As wonderful as the lovely old man was, there aren't enough of them who speak out.

Please make a donation to Protect Maine Equality to prevent the same travisty that befell California from being repeated.

The Greatest Generation indeed. I hope everyone who stands against marriage inequality hangs their head in shame. This guy rocks.

Aw, what a sweet old bird! I agree Max, this makes me proud to be an American. I am also glad that his sons were in the service and that he was as well, because it just proves that people who are or were in the armed forces know what's up!
