Living the Bi Life

- "Her beauty served a mob of terror whose one mission is to destroy." Yeah, that's me alright.
I am a writer, actor, activist. That means I've worked in the hospitality and retail industries. Before you ask for fries with that, prepare yourself for political, economic, social, and sexual liberation.
Not a total commie. I just marvel at the inflammatory red-baiting language--so much like queer-baiting, it's scaaary. I will be your downfall yet, America. Until then, I go for universal healthcare and making friends with anarchists, hippies, fellow-travelers, philosophers, actors, and other troublemakers. And, of course, da queers. So I'm pinko. Does that make me more Canadian than anything else? How queer are they in Canukistan? And can they put me up for the night--you know, just in case?
In other words, just your typical OS blogger.

Everyone wants safe space. For some feminists and LGBTQ, establishing safe spaces against sexist and homophobic discrimination is still a lifelong pursuit.
The LGBTQ have their own community. It's a community that, presumably, provides all the quee… Read full post »

Even though you've been dead for a while, Mom, there's something we've got to have out, here and now.
I've caught up to research that finally reveals the true cause of my bisexuality. And guess what? It's all your fault.
That's right. Last year, rep… Read full post »

It's official. Equality Illinois announced today that a bill was introduced in the Illinois State Senate to legalize same-sex marriage. State Senator Heather Steans of the 7th District introduced the bill. A companion bill, HB178, was introduced into… Read full post »
Pop star MIKA (aka Michael Holbrook Penniman) has just come out bisexual in the Dutch Gay and Night magazine. Or rather, he is pretty much a "no labels" kind of guy, but will settle for bisexual, if you have to call him anything--a stance that's quite st… Read full post »

The bisexual Brits are bringing it. An early announcement has been made about the 28th BiCon UK merging with the 10th International Conference on Bisexuality, happening in the UK, August 26-30, 2010--though specific venues are still to be announced-- "welcoming activists, academi… Read full post »

No sooner had news gone out about the 2009 Bi Health Summit, but the religious right was on it like white on rice.
The website Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, run by Peter LaBarbera, absolutely misquoted and distorted the information brought out at the 2009 Bi Health Su… Read full post »

Grab your calendars and datebooks. Summer is officially here and a number of big events are coming up for bisexuals, LGBTQ folks in general, and progressives. Something tells me this will be a hot activist summer, the temperature is already rising.

This week, the award for Self-hating Bisexual Asswipe and Overall Tool goes to Megan Fox, co-star of "Transformers 2", who has announced to Esquire magazine that she is bisexual; that she thinks everyone is bisexual; and that she sleeps with lesbian women, but not bisexual women, because me… Read full post »

Thursday, Chicago celebrated "Talk Like Shakespeare Day" in honor of the Bard's 445 birthday.
Would I had known this was going to happen. Perhaps some action could have been taken to highlight Shakespeare's affairs both with a young man and a dark lady.
Married at eighte… Read full post »With the verdict passed and the sentence given on Allen Andrade, murderer of 18 year-old transwoman Angie Zapata, it seems impossible that this Argentinian advertisement is circulating now among the bi activists I know.
So I was sitting at home last night watching one of my favorite guilty pleasures, Fringe (a kind of X Files meets Michael Clayton, since an evil corporation, Massive Dynamics, seems to be behind all the weirdness) when the story, just for a minute, turns into a lesbian-bi/pansexual-transgender f… Read full post »
Sexual identities are indeed about much more than who you are attracted to and who you fuck.
I'm quite clear that my bisexual identity is a product of what was current socially, politically, and conceptually during my initial coming out period, the years 1984-1986.
That was a terrifying and confusing… Read full post »
This is the first of many observations on living an openly bi-identified life. I came out as bisexual at the tender age of 22 in 1986; I am one of the few people I know that has identified as bisexual for this long. It seems ages since I first said the… Read full post »
