I'm nobody important and there's nothing uniquely interesting about me. My blog is intended as planting a free market, conservative flag on Salon Island. I want to be a bit provocative and will attempt to present a counter-counter-culture view. The blog name is based on the idea that the 1960's should not be viewed as only a time when the young pushed change against conservative norms. The 60's were as much represented by law and order shows such as Hawaii Five O. Conservative waves continued through the 80's and into this day. Salon tends to represent the desire to overcome the conservative waves. I will playfully join the debate here to see whether I hit the beach or hit the rocks.

Caution... JAMAICAN EARWORM!

Rate: 2 Flag

I've been listening exclusively to the XM radio reggae station in the car for the last week or so.  Two days ago, a dancehall song called "Hold My Hand" came on by Sean Paul (again, reggae, not the rapper).

Here it is with lyrics.

Now, let's see how long that bounces around in your head as an earworm.  I'm going on two days.  No complaints though.  It's a good song about a guy in love.

Here's a version with Keri Hilson on guest vocals.

Here's a potential antidote... Althea Hewitt's cover of Beyonce's "If I Were a Boy."

Ahoy my music friend! It's been awhile. This isn't my favorite kind of music, but it most certainly is sublime. :) Thanks for sharing.
Stellaa, I never actually stopped. I embedded one about the band Spoon in a post about Roman Polanski and I think you missed the one about Negativland, a performance artist band. If you look at My Links, you will see an index for My Music Posts. Spoon and Negativland are listed there. Or... maybe you saw these and just didn't like them. Oh well, I have some others I plan on posting over the coming weeks.

Screamin, welcome back. Agreed that reggae is a genre that has some well defined structures so if you either like it or you don't.
