I have mentioned before that I am a huge fan of David Brin's massive novel, "Earth".

It's been astounding to note how many of the predictions that Mr. Brin made have come to pass - luckily we haven't had the "black hole(s) in the core of the earth" yet.

A Swiss Bank Is Set to Open Its Secret Files
              
UBS, the largest bank in Switzerland, agreed on Wednesday to divulge the names of well-heeled Americans whom the authorities suspect of using offshore accounts at the bank to evade taxes. The bank admitted conspiring to defraud the Internal Revenue Service and agreed to pay $780 million to settle a sweeping federal investigation into its activities

Mr Brin thought that it would take the Hevetica War to dig the Swiss bankers out into the sunlight - but I guess the IRS will do.
