It all started a couple of months ago when Lisa Kern posted a story about this...(http://open.salon.com/blog/lisa_kern/2009/02/05/finding_audreys_tooth)

…and how she went searching for a little girls’ lost tooth on the school playground.
Skip ahead several weeks and I am waking up to my 10 year-old son screaming from his bedroom. The daughters and I come running. There he sat, on his bedroom floor, mangled remnants of his own plastic baby tooth holder in his hands. Five small teeth had inhabited that holder until somehow our best pup, Frosty, decided they would make a good snack. My son is a sentimental kind of guy, probably gets that from his mom, and he took this loss hard.
To ease the pain, I recounted Lisa’s story to all three of the kids. They were totally in love with the woman who had dedicated her time to the tooth search. She may not have been Audrey’s hero, but she was ours.
Let me interject here that I then went back to Lisa’s post to tell her the story and kindly invited her to come to our woods and search for the digested teeth. To paraphrase her response, she said “I don’t do poop.” Hmph!
Skip ahead another couple of weeks and once again, we are waking up to a new day. My youngest daughter, Alice, comes running out of her bedroom with something she had created in bed the night before. (Before you say anything, I will tell you right now that yes, I do often allow my children scissors and staplers in bed. They are a crafty bunch and bedtime is one of their favorite times to create. I trust them, in this case.) So, there is Alice with some massive creation and I ask her what it is.
“It’s for that tooth fairy lady.”
“Tooth fairy lady?”
“Yes, the one you told us about who finds the lost teeth.”
“Ah, got it.”
So, without further ado, Lisa Kern, here is your Tooth Fairy Crown and Necklace courtesy of Alice:
Your Crown O' Teeth...
Your Toothy Necklace…
(Evidently one tooth is healthy food the other side is junk food…dental hygiene month at school!)
And this is what the ensemble looks like in use…
(Pardon the use of the Cabbage Patch doll. If I knew how to photoshop, I would have put it on Lisa!)

Thank you so much for the lovely tooth crown and necklace. They are the nicest presents that anyone has ever made for me.
The crown is so nice and white, like healthy teeth should be, and the way you decorated it with the giant teeth (my favorite things!) is just perfect. Is that dental floss that's hanging from the top? I do love that dental floss!
The necklace is so pretty with the red hearts all the way around it, and then of course, there are more wonderful teeth. You can't have too many teeth, I always say.
You are a smart girl to show the difference between healthy food and junk food. That's important stuff to know. I love the colors that you chose to use, also. They are very bright and beautiful.
Thank you so much for thinking of me. You made me so happy today.
Don't forget to brush and floss!
Love,
Lisa (Tooth Fairy Helper)
P. S. Please tell your brother that I am very sorry that the dog ate his teeth. I guess even dogs love those precious baby teeth!
Gary - thanks for the moment of bravery!
mom- he doesn't get sad about the teeth unless he sees the chewed up holder, which he refuses to let me throw away.
owl- yes, bed time is crafty time at our house, never know what you'll get in the moring!
I almost forgot to be the tooth fariy one night. That would have been a sad morning.
