I'm a 40-something therapist living in one of the most beautiful places on earth. I'm also the chief critter-wrangler in a household that currently includes Abby the Border Collie, Collin the Aussie, Chance the Persian, Lizzie the Tortie, Mouse the Manx mix, and Jeffrey the husband. >^..^< I've been described as a bleeding heart liberal hippie do-gooder. Probably a pretty accurate description. :)

OS Collage--UPDATED! with more Doggie Goodness

Rate: 11 Flag

As requested--Abby & Collin in all their glory. :)

 Two Dogs One Cat Door

Since the avatar seems to have generated some giggles, I thought I'd share the whole series withy'all.

It started one Sunday afternoon, with two dogs and one stick.

Two dogs, one stick

This led to puppy exhaustion, requiring a little nap-nap:

The aftermath

The adventures continued four days later, when Abby and Collin were in the mud room, drying off after a ferocious downpour. They  had a habit of putting their heads through the cat door into the kitchen to see if we were close to letting them in yet.

 First was Abby.

Abby and the cat door

Next was Collin, with Abby getting in position to make her move.

Collin and the cat door

Then, the grand finale--two dogs, one cat door.

 Two dogs, one cat door

A friend then lol'd them:

Two dogs + one cat-door = comedy goldmine

And the rest is history. :)

hahahaha I never realized it was a canine clown circus trying to get through the doggie door at the same time till now

hahahaha
That's really beautiful. And I see what Barry is referring to, although I was a bit slow to pick up on that myself.
heh heh I love this shot.
I never understood the Archie and Meathead doggie door competition, either. Pretty ding funny!
Thanks y'all! I call this one "Two dogs, one cat door." It was preceded by "Two dogs, one stick." They were in the mud room drying off, and they were taking turns looking through the cat door--which leads into the kitchen--being pathetic so we'd let them in. One of them got impatient and didn't want to wait for the other one to get out of the way--I'm not sure, but I think it was Abby that pushed in over Collin's head. I laughed so hard I choked.
Merwoman - have now downloaded the image for the OS Collage. Thanks. BTW, if you haven't done so already, please rate Skeptics' post for OS Avatar Collage Version 2.0 so it will stay on the front page and get more exposure for the project.
It took me a while to realize your avatar was two dogs. I thought the black and white dog was a witch's hat that the brown dog was wearing. Duh! That is funny they're actually shoving to get in the same doggie door. : )
Scruffus--that made me laugh! If I squinted and pretended I didn't know what the picture was, though, I could see the witch hat. :)

I have a series of shots from this same day--first Collin looking through, then Abby, then both pushing through at the same time. They provide so much entertainment. :)
Count me in with the non-doggie door seeing crowd!

(Thumbified for canine shenanigans)
I love these dogs/compatriots/pals. We gotta get them to wear out the Bogeman.
Dogs are very dumb, and act without considering the consequences. That's why they're Man's best friend.
Merwoman, on your friends list, it looks as if my avatar is about to eat Caruso's. Which reminds me... It's dinnertime.
MTN--NO EATING THE KITTY! NAUGHTY BOY! ;)
Love the expanded post. Tried to rate it, but forgot I've already rated it, so put it back to where it was. Your counter is a new one to me on OS. I'm not sure that more numbers are a good thing. I don't want to see the difference between how many people have read my posts and how many have rated them--seems depressing. I don't see how so many people can forget to rate something they like. Anyway, love to the dogs--pats, hugs, and kisses.
DogWoman--I put the counter in because I'm curious how many people actually look at the damn page, and we don't seem to have a way to find that out with the current OS interface. This post has 10 thumbs and 14 comments, for instance, but has registered 27 unique visitors. I like to know that, because I have a lot of non-OS friends who check out my blog, and some people just wander in and start reading...It makes me feel better to have some indication of how many folks are actually stopping by. :)

The pups say thanks, and if you come on over here, they'll give you some big sloppy dog kisses.
I know how doggie gridlock works. When I lived in California I had ten dogs, all of whom lived in the house. Their route to the backyard was through a doggie door such that the largest one could plunge through at full speed. The only noise being the slap of the flap as it swung back and forth a few times.

However, when something exciting happened, a squirrel perhaps, there was a mass exodus to the yard resulting in quite a different sound. First came the slippery, sliding swoosh of forty paws at full stop as they realized a logjam was inevitable. Unfortunately, this realization was always too late so next came the big bang as the herd hit the door.

All this comprised the first second or so. The next ten or fifteen seconds were muffled grunts, the door rattling, the walls rattling, claws scratching for traction until the last one squirted through to the great outdoors.

And the amazing thing, no one ever was hurt. No lameness or soreness. No blood, no foul. No tempers flaring. Who has time for that crap when one must get outside RIGHT NOW!
Sharkbait, OMG, you had me laughing out loud at work when I read this today. I cannot even imagine 40 paws! We only have 12 and it's already utter insanity.

Well, 24, I suppose, when you add in the cats, who certainly do contribute to the chaos and mayhem. :)

I really, really enjoyed your comment--your words painted such a vivid picture in my mind. I will now have to go check out your blog.

Thanks for stopping by!
Hee hee! Now I'm trying to imagine two Bostons getting stuck in a cat door.... :D
I wish my cats were on the other side to see this!
They'd probably be laughing their little kitty heads off. :)
