Being up here in the Pacific Northwest "Snow Zone" has been loads of fun. Snow, freezing rain, sleet, wind, we've had it all. While the humans in Portland may be complaining (well, not me, I've been snowed in since Thursday and I love it!), the dogs are of a different opinion entirely about the cold white stuff.
We had what we thought was a decent amount of snow on Friday 12/19. which the dogs enjoyed thoroughly:
I was surprised the long-term guest-dog Max enjoyed the snow as much as he did, considering a) how short his fur is, and b) he won't keep his coat on. :)

Then came the Sunday Storm. By yesterday (12/22), we had a lot of snow on the ground, and some pretty deep drifts. Whoo boy, the dogs were in puppy heaven. Even our old man, Collin the Wonder Aussie, was scampering and playing. A good time was had by all:
Today brought new joy: A squirrel! A squirrel! Oh boy oh boy, a SQUIRREL!
The poor little guy was at the feeder nearest to Abby when I put the dogs out. Oops! Nowhere to go but up!
So he sat at the top of the cherry tree and barked madly at the dogs, who were barking madly right back at him.
He stayed up there for almost an hour after I brought the dogs back in. Probably took that long for his little heart to stop pounding. Poor squirrel! Happy dogs! :D

I'll have to get my camera out to take some shots of my Corgi, with his 6 or 7 inch long legs, maneuver through the 15 inches of snow we have on the ground in Northern Illinois.
So rated!
I was surprised that my short-legged Doxie loved the snow. In and out all day. Warm up by the fire then out again!
They sure know how to play.
Thanks, Merwoman, hope you are set in the weather here.
Thanks for this fun post. It was great to see first thing this morning!
Greg, I haven't "met" anyone in a LONG time who knows what snow cream is. I remember vividly the very last time we made snow cream when I was in junior high. We got snow from a fresh, bright-white snow bank, made and ate the snow cream--yummy!--and let the leftovers melt in the sink. Next morning the sink was coated in dirt. GAAAA! No more snow cream for us! :D
L&P, I really felt bad for that poor squirrel. The dogs "tree" squirrels all the time, but that cherry tree is one of only 2 trees up on the front of the property that isn't close enough to another tree to make the jump. So he was well and truly trapped, and not at all used to it. :D The muses would not like it here right now, I'm sure. We've gotten somewhere between 12 & 24" of snow in the last week, and we've got drifts that are as high as five feet. Our local country market had a roof-high drift up against their front door, so they shoveled out a tunnel, and stuck a christmas tree in the drift on one side of the door. Very entertaining.
Is your Doxie full-sized, or a mini? I'm just imagining a short little Doxie having to hop and bound through the snow drifts. :D
