Thankful (?)

I’ve never been very big on holidays.  As a kid I hated them.  I wanted to love them but, well.  When I was married to Maggie and my daughter was a little girl I loved them.  It was the most normal time of my life then.

I especially find Thanksgiving to be irritating mostly because we are giving thanks for stealing this land from the original owners, but, I do try to look beyond all that and realize that for most it’s a time to be thankful for the things that we have.  This year it’s a slim list.

Are we thankful that we live in a free country?  A nation where our citizens have the right to gather together with a unified voice and disagree peacefully with our government.  I suppose we do as long as you like tear gas as cologne.

Ok, ok, I’m trying here.  I really am.  The world has gone completely mad and we are right there in the front of the line.  At least we haven’t started killing our protestors like they are in Egypt but how long will it be before we are doing the same thing.

We are finding ourselves thankful that the Super Committee is going to fail, oh yea it is the greatest indicator that our government, our politicians and the state of our nation is basically in dire straits right now.

This new awakening gives us the opportunity to finally take off the rose colored glasses of conservative idiotic religious paranoia and start finding real, intelligent solutions to our problems.  First thing that would be nice is for this ridiculous government of ours to figure out a way of getting people back to work.

That’s not an unreasonable request.

See I’m thankful for things like being able to finally realize that I am bat shit crazy sometimes and that there is something I can do about.  I’m thankful that I spent a large part of my life trying to self-destruct and was able to see the error of my ways and find the sheer act of being alive as the most exhilarating thing there is about being a human being.

I am grateful for the times that I humiliated myself so that I could finally stand back up, tall and not to badly bruised or broken and start again.

The problem I see with our country is that we are not able to be humble.  We are not able to look at ourselves and say, “Wow!  We really screwed up this time didn’t we?”  No we will go to our fiery graves holding onto our pride.

The reason the occupy movement is working, is a complete success is because it is humble human beings who are willing to say, “We really screwed up” and are willing to do something about it.

Things do seem to be spiraling out of control right now and not just here but everywhere.

See, we could be involved in all this fixing and democracy and bullshit that we shovel to the rest of the world as long as we were making things, especially money, but, when we are also part of the spiraling down, well that is when the American idea becomes very, very dangerous.

All we have to do is look at the whole circus that is going on with the upcoming election.  My God where did all of these freaks come from?  Where did this much acceptable ignorance leak out from?

Of course we are seeing the American people react with voting down terrible laws that the ignorant got passed during a moment of fear and the recall elections that are going on is a great example of the people taking back their right to a just and fair government, but, what about the violence that is going on with our peaceful demonstrations in this country, and, how long will it be before it gets worse.

Do you not understand that this only fuels the mission?  See, the people cannot lose.  We the people are the United States of America and we as the citizens of the world are the owners of the world.  We do not bow to your ridiculous demands anymore.  You are here to serve us Mr. Politician, Mr. Business person, Mr. Government.

Every single day we should all get up and walk outside naked and let whatever the weather is hit our skin and remind ourselves that we are a part of all of this. We are a part of each other.  We are connected to the earth and to the infinite universe.  We are aware of our consciousness even if just for a few seconds and maybe a few seconds will become a minute and a minute more and a whole day and a week and a year and then forever.

cool peace

I watch the USA from a different timeline. Maybe this is exactly what I am watching. A timeline that went so horribly wrong, that one of the most powerful nations, the nation that by default should be connected to the Spirit as non can... is crumbling from the inside.

I don't know what it is with you people. Pardon my expression please, and forgive me for what is to follow, as my fellow European ancestors are the true invaders of this land you now call USA. You know very well that in fact, the only person who can say it is their land, although they wouldn't use expression, they would say "our Mother" are Native Indians who lived in perfect harmony with the land and its own people. Then, the "whites" showed up and... everything went from that point on to the gutter. Cheating the Natives out of their land, the introduction of the concept of possession, wars, money, slavery, more wars, slogans that got most of your nation where it is right now - "American Dream" got you all in a shi@@hole you are so desperately trying to dig yourself out of. Wow, how cool is that? "American Dream"... hmm, except no one, not even most of you living there believe in that anymore.

Why? Cause you LET THEM do this with your own country, with your own lives. Sorry, I know it is cruel and I know it is true. You've let them. Just like you've let them control your every single move either by the monitoring, touching you at the airport or letting them tab your phone lines or monitoring your emails. You let them by not opposing them, as simple as that. You, as the nation, gave up to a fear and feeling comfy. How comfy you actually are? Are you comfy at all? Most of you don't have state provided health care. How sick is that? Look at the majority of countries around the world - they have if for god sake, yet, they are smaller and they certainly don't spend billions on wars carried for the profits of big corporations. How is it possible? How is it done? Obviously, it can be done. Obviously, someone at some point of history got so pissed and so fed up that he stand up and lead the revolution that gave that right.

I don't understand you people in the US, I really don't. Where I come from, when enough gets pissed, personal security, the fear of "the precious life" goes, it just goes. These are your basic rights. These are any nation, any human being basic rights: the right to a roof over your head, the right to a food on your table, the right to education, medical care and the right to freedom of being and the freedom of expression. Anything less is a slavery I am afraid.

Think about it. Maybe you are not "as free" as a nation as you thought you were...

Many blessings to you.
Wake up & see what you do to the rest of us, please & thank you.
Thank you unmarkedHelicopters for an absolutely brilliant comment. Yes yes yes! I agree with everything you just said. You speak with such passion, eloquently and so truthfully. Again thank you.
Don't give up hope, dear hippie!! Have you seen Sir James's post???
Yes I have Brazen Princess and it was very sweet of James to do that. Hell I have been at this for more than fifty years. I'm not going to stop now. Hope is what we have and we have each other as warriors, comrades and survivors.
Walking outside naked once a day is a birthright no-one should deprive themselves of, whoever they are, wherever they live. Right on. It keeps you sane, but it can get you locked up too.
I so much agree with you here. Each day at a time...Come on over and spend your holidays with me...
Dearest Mical, the people, after a long sleep, are waking up. Be thankful for that.

Once there was a Venetian mirror, but it broke. Ppl who were using it for centuries went into an "oi, oi, what a joke" kind of mood. Actually they didn't believe the whole broken mirror story in the first place, so they tried to carry on "business as usual." No one on the other side of the mirror was blaming them. Pity them? Yes. Blaming them for their ignorance and arrogance? No. Being on the other side of the mirror does that to you, thus... who can blame you for being blind? Certainly not someone who had enjoyed the other side of the stick in life, right? So, anyway. As it turns out, the mirror wasn't shuttered, in the paradox of all there is, it reversed its role. It is still working, but now... it shows the watched what the watchers do. In other words - no place to hide. Hope you enjoy being naked, as much as I do :D...
