yeah, that pretty much says it, eh?

i have been thinking and saying "america is living on credit, and any day now the sky will fall." but it never did, over 20 years, aside from small chunks. i almost came to think gravity was repealed.

but don't despair, rome went through financial cataclysms too, and recovered more or less. so even if the sky does fall life may go on at some level.

otoh, competence in mandarin may be a good investment, every home should have a jar full of gold coins, and it wouldn't hurt to put a year's supply of non-perishable foodstuffs in the cellar, either.
