Will Bill O'Reilly Supply the 60th Vote in the Senate?

Rate: 22 Flag

                                         Billo

Bill O'Reilly has a heart. Okay, that might be a bit of a stretch, but he does say on this video that he supports a Public Option (although, first he declares it dead).

Now I can't admit to watching much of Billo, but if he was for a Public Option in the Health Care Reform Bills, why didn't he say so sooner?

Say what you want about O'Reilly, I know I do, but regardless of what you think of him, you still have to admit that he has a great deal of clout with those on the right side of the HCRB debate.

Of all of the talking heads over on the right that have a large audience, Bill O'Reilly is, in my mind, the most respected. (Yes, I had to cringe while writing that sentence.) If for some unknown crazy reason, O'Reilly would decide to get on board and back any of the HCR Bills that are now waiting in Congress (except for the Baucus Bill, that one just reeks), it could go a long way in changing the minds of a lot of conservative voters and could possibly loosen up the deadlock that has a stranglehold on Congress, but especially in the Senate. After all, if it's good enough for Bill, why wouldn't it be good enough for you?

I believe that there are some Conservatives out there that would support a bill if only one or more of their heroes would soften to the idea of helping their fellow Americans. Many are just hung up on their ideology or whatever  they are told to be hung up on.

I think what they really lack is leadership in there camp. They certainly aren't getting any from their elected officials, but that doesn't mean that they wouldn't listen to one of their Demagogues.

Of course, there is the chance that O'Reilly will recant his statement on his very next show, but if he decides to stick with what he said, it could go a long way in helping a decent HCRB get passed. I mean, if you approve of a Public Option, you also have to be behind Health Care Reform, don't you?

Who would think that Bill O'Reilly could be a hero for Health Care Reform?

Yeah, I know, but hey, I guy can dream, can't he?

Don't laugh. It COULD happen.
Yeah, and you could get an EP for this, too. That could happen also. ;)
Cartouche, I doubt that the odds in Vegas would be very good for either.
Really? O'Reilly? Too early in the morning for me to believe this, except I'm a morning person so it can't be that. I'm out to my favorite coffee spot to get my morning cap...I'll keep cartouche's keyboard in mind and be careful when I come back to read the comments. This could be fun.
Mary, I have a wet towel handy to keep wiping the egg off my face.
O' Reilly has to have something up his sleeve. I don't believe for one minute the man has a heart or gives a damn about anyone. Fox must be tempering their complete propagandist meltdown.

they're exercising the " fair and balanced " option.
Interesting. I frankly would check outside if Billo said it was dark. I agree that it would help to have someone like this schmuck support the bill but the fundemental problem here is why is this schmuck one of the people that the conservatives listen too?
He was most likely drunk or on an Oxycontin downing binge with Rush before that show. By today's show, he will have been sent a huge check from Aetna to change his tune.

I admire your objective "non-partisan" opportunity for BillO, but he has yet to prove he's earned it. He is after all, insane...

:-D Love ya bro
RATED for bravery.
Michael, this isn't that unbelievable if you keep in mind BillO the Clown is not a commentator -- he's a common tater -- he's an entertainer, and not a particularly talented one. His act resembles Joe McCarthy a lot more than Charlie McCarthy. Thus, BillO, like the even more repugnant Glenn Bleck, will say whatever he thinks will appeal to his audience.

Rapert Meerdick will insist Fux's Mighty Righties shift their pitch IF it becomes clear truth and moderation is more profitable than propaganda and immoderation. Admittedly, that's a big IF, since Fux can succeed financially by appealing just to the aptly-named Base of the Republican Party because they have no competition for the lunatic fringe segment of the viewing audience except from Rush and Wingnut Radio.
NoFrills, I trust O'Reilly. Bwahahaha. As if. I don't know what's going on over there, but this just sounded so bizarre!

MicalPeace, That is funny! I swear if they didn't have it on video, I wouldn't believe it either.

Blue, You're Killing me, dude!

Tom. Love those nicknames! I knew I could count on you for both common sense and humor.
I came here thinking this was about me. My mistake.
Stranger things have happened before. When we got medicare some conservatives got behind it. Liberals, dare I say us, will be skeptical that O'Reilly could be behind a form of public option. But he has broken with the right on any number of items in the past, so why not now? If nothing else it keeps the ratings of his show up.

Monte
O'Really. I was hoping that it was my dynamic sexuality that lured you in. Oh, well. Back to the drawing board.

Monte, It would go a long way to ease things between the two sides. To deny the guys following would be dishonest at best. He could say that he hates Obama, but he likes the idea of health care reform and go right back to his old ways, for all I care. I may tape his show tonight to see where this could be going. See? He already has a new viewer!
Your dynamic sexuality lured me in, Big Boy! Good post too!
It's just really hard to like someone, even for the best reasons, when you've fantasized about them being defecated on by Hillary Clinton.

Multiple times.

But I do get your point.

rated. ;)
Bill is just playing mind games.... later he' ll be texting salacious whimsy your way. rAted!
What's really sad is that the politicians would look to an entertainment figure to tell them what to do...
Maybe O'Reilly will come out for backing the awful Baucus bill because maybe he gets insurance money, too.....or maybe now that he thinks a bill is safely dead, he wants to say he supported it so that he can pretend he is a freethinker and a little different from the other conservatives (especially if health care keeps getting worse in this country and people get angrier)....
I don't know, but this is interesting.
I think someone should dig up the money his sort get for doing this BS Michael. I mean, I would not be such a whore for the insurance folk without having a ass load of cash to look like such a damn fool.
I feel sorry for the man and his true followers.
They are starting to look like a grim bunch.
Maybe we should send some flowers and a box of chocolates filled with Exlax.
Unless his Mother is dying and has no insurance the bastard is lying or too damn cheap to pay for her hospital stay!
Bill Beck, You're kinda cute, too! ;-)

Mungular, You crack me up, I really didn't know which way to go with this since the news is so bizarre. of course I think the guy is nuts, so who knows.

Chuck, Please don't wish such things on me!!!! Aack!

Marcel, That is sad to think that that is true, but they really don't seem to have ANY leadership over on the right.

Delia, You make a very good point. I would guess some have sugar plums dancing in their heads while this group has dollar signs and ratings charts.

Mission, I suppose that if I got paid enough, I would be willing to say ANYTHING they wanted me to. Can you say, U.S. Congress?

Scanner, and I thought you were an O'Reilly fan. Tsk, Tsk,Tsk.
As the conservatives get more and more loony, folks like O'Rielly start looking level-headed. I often said that Bush made Nixon look like a statesman. It's a matter of perspective. Once in a while, there is an independent thinker among them, so why not? We can dream.
I got a call at 10:45 from Nana saying "they're coming to get me, and they are giving me a lobotomy. You'll be sorry when I'm dead..."

And I thought that was crazy...
Sirenita, Good poit! I really don't know how much good it would do, but it would be a curiousity at the very least.

Dayna,Yeah, What will they think of next? This world gets more bizarre by the day.
Then do I get to win the lotto now?
Great post.. And yes stranger things have happened.. so this could also.
Hahaha! I kmew it! Now he says he didn't say what he said on the video. He says the left wing nut jobs edited the tape, but when he shows his side of it it shows that HIS tape is obviously the one that is edited. FUCK YOU, BILLO!
Every so often, Bill O'Reilly and I agree on points. Also, we like to meet up for some great sex and coffee afterwards, but that's a different story for a different time!!

~wanders off~
I agree with you Michael. He's the one who can best counter Limbaugh and Beck. But it would mean sacrifice on his part, and a long view. I can't stand the man but he may just see he could go down in history as helping to save our healthcare system.
So, very interesting post!
Maybe he sees the writing on the wall and knows it it time to switch sides. (Never Happen)
I watched the clip twice and read the transcript. You're right. He does seem to favor a public option. Maybe he wasn't feeling well.
That's a great catch, Michael. I hope, like you, he won't revise his statement. What he said was revolutionary. I sure hope it will change some right wing minds. You're also right: Bill is very influential on the right.
