The Kemp’s Ridley is the smallest and one of the rarest of all sea turtles. Once over-harvested to near extinction for their tender meat, their nests were also under siege by those who believed their eggs contained aphrodisiac ingredients.
Long on the Endangered Species list, the Ridley’s numbers were increasing after legislation was enacted to require shrimp boats to have turtle excluder devices designed into their nets. They migrate to the Gulf of Mexico near Louisiana from April to September each year.
Now they are being burned alive by BP.
I wish I had the words to tell you all how this makes me feel. If you've ever been out on the Gulf and happened upon one of these majestic and gentle creatures, you would likely feel like I do right now.
Beyond Pollution, Beyond Poisonous,
Beyond Pestilence,
Beyond Petroleum.
Heaven help us.

not just big creatures, but all life- the people in charge should be falling on their swords- when you cause that amount of loss of life and destruction, why should you be allowed to survive and prosper?
It's weird, if I cause even one instance of suffering or loss though job negligence (including not knowing, or not enough education) I will lose my license and probably be sued for everything I own or ever will own- if it's proven that I did it knowingly, I'd go to jail.

What is happening to the gulf is making me deadly sick here north of you.
When I was at the beach Monday all I could think of was the sea creatures all around me and the death washing ashore with the tide soon here.
Bee Pee is making me sick. The Three Stooges are running the show, all in the name of big oil.
We got to do better than this: all of us.
And now they are drilling in the Arctic! They've built a fake island in order to qualify as onshore drilling, but they are going into the deepest and riskiest venture ever. And nothing's been done to stop them.
We have to shut BP down and never let them make another dime off of us ever. I will never go to one of their stations again.
