My lighthouse

Rate: 12 Flag

I’ve been in this place

More times than I count…

Bags being packed

Uniforms folded neatly

With military corners pressed

Very few see the trials

That lie within the life of a military spouse

Yet the night before

The departure

Always tugs and tears at my heart.

He rocked me tonight,

And I wept tears of sorrow…

Heartache

And emptiness

Filled my soul

Although I tried to ignore the pain

Because when he leaves

I know I will survive and be strong…

But with him,

He takes the light that shines

Upon my path

Of life…

I may struggle, have hard days,

Banging my withered skull

Upon a wall

No one feels…

Yet his light leads me home.

To a place of peace

Sanctuary

And solitude

Where the world is right

We wrote our vows…

And mine clearly stated

“You are my light house”

Because within this complex soul

Gleans a light

That will forever lead you home.

May my light

Return home

Soon.

What passion. I recently heard that all love is going to hurt so the trick is to find someone who is worth the pain. I think you have. Lucky.
I truly have, Zanelle...thanks for your thoughts.
Thank you Deborah and Algis...xoxo
Beautiful. I pray for his safety, and know his light will continue to shine in your heart until he returns safely to your embrace.
A wonderful tribute to him and you devotion. May your days be filled with the love you have forever and ever.
A beacon in the night, what a welcome thought. May he return soon.
It seems a bit weak to say that this is a beautiful bit of work, but it is.
Yours is a powerful and artfully expressed ache, Michelle. May he be safe.
Where there is a lighthouse, there also is a rock upon which it is firmly based. I have no doubt that you are that rock, for him.
