Chelle's Mid-life musings

A journey of a middle aged woman...relearning to love life!

I am a career oriented woman, who just retired from 20 years of active duty service in the military. I now work in a civilian hospital, and recently completed my MBA in Healthcare management. I enjoy writing, cooking, running, and above all spending as much time possible with my family.

Army Strong

Rate: 14 Flag

Army strong…

A term known by few, but felt by nearly twice as many unsung members

That didn’t hold up their right hand

Swearing to faith, God, and country…

May our soldiers find strength, peace, and passion

In the uniform they wear, and the dedication they stand beside

Honoring those,

Past and present who have served with impeccable values

Putting aside their wants and needs

To keep their country free…

Yet beside these soldiers are spouses,

Forever taking on more than they knew possible…

While their husbands are away

The wives become

Not only a Mom,

But a Dad,

A handy man,

A housekeeper,

A bill keeper

A career woman

A nursemaid to hurt children

A taxi-woman

A psychologist

A playmate

A friend

A support system for their family

And in the end

When the wick has been burned at both ends,

The Army spouse finds strength from within…

Because her husband needs her…

Needs her to be strong

So that his worries are lessened

Allowing him to further serve his country…

Army strong?

Why yes I am…

May I continue to serve my country while retired,

As a proud,
