Why are you posting at three in the morning?

Rate: 6 Flag

I work three nights a week, twelve hour shifts, on weekends.  The workload is such that I am often able to peruse OS off and on over the middle part of the shift.  I can assure you, though, that I don't do this on the nights I am off.  Then I try to act "normal" and sleep through the night.

So, I am interested in why there seems to be so many posts during the very early hours of the morning.   Are you who are posting insomniacs or, like me, someone who is trying to stay awake during a long shift?  Why are you awake in the Land of Nod?

I work until 12 midnight, 5 nights a week. Try as I might, I just can't seem to wind down for a couple of hours after coming home from work.

What to do with myself since I don't watch TV? Read, of course.... but now I am also trying to write. It's a wonderful quiet time of the night and I love it.
Where I am, it is 9.50 pm, Monday 1 December.

But like you I have been surprised at how many posts and comments come through at these hours.
It's the long reaches of the night....
The time difference is partly it; however, I have posted early early also. It is quiet at that hour and is my time.
I don't work due to physical disability caused by chronic illness.
Early a.m. is a good time for me to relax, read on this site, make comments, and think about my next blog.
I have been getting up early all my life. Now I just wake up and get up.
Lovely post. It made me think. I like it.
write on, my dear.
thumbs!

I am an artist and the hours between midnight and 6 am are the
best times to work. So I take a little break from that and log
on to OS.
OS is a great site that never sleeps. Where else can you read thought provoking posts, funny stories, great poetry and brilliant insight 24 hours a day??? Not to mention great photos? Different shifts for different folks... it all works. :)
There is something fertile and full of potential about the wee hours of the morning, especially weekend mornings. I like how the buzz of the day is gone. It may not be completely silent, but there is a low, respectful quiet which opens a space for the imagination to gallop in full strides around my vacuous mind. Even my two Jack Russell Terriers tend to be respectfully quiet in these hours. If you can manage the attention and focus to the reading or writing of posts in your low frequency state, there results something satisfying from the effort. Walden's pond is surrounded by suburbia, but sometimes the wee hours are still on the frontier of peace.
I came back to say this: early morning is my time. No stress. just for me. I look at this site with my first cuppa coffee, my cat joins and we read. For the funnins and news and opinions. I get it here.

I've blogged early this past week only because I was on vacation....in fact, I 0nly got two hours sleep last night and here I sit at my desk today, alert as ever. I will probably be awol next week because I will be on a cruise....so I guess I will probably post something before I leave.
