Here in Oregon we had a beautiful late summer, but the rain has returned, reminding me of the random effects of rain water on our urban structures.
I haven't taken any photographs in a while. I've had a lot on my mind, not very good things, and just wasn't in the mood. I haven't felt very good lately, physically or mentally.
I guess the rain today put me in a different place, a little more relaxed, maybe a little more able to get outside of myself. I walked to a restaurant for lunch today, and on the way back to the office I took these photos with an iPhone camera. They aren't photos "of" anything, just shapes, colors, and textures where the rain has been. It felt good to capture a few images, and when I look at them now they remind me of how it felt to perceive without thinking about what I was seeing.

Photos are really remarkable. Goes to show that its the eye behind the lens that makes the difference not the camera.

You remind me of a dear friend from my Ithaca, NY days. She loved the gray days, the rain and snow. She had nothing against a bright and sunny day, but she found some kind of pleasure and comfort in those cloudy skies that most of us complain about.
btw, we come in three flavors: dripping wet (coasties), merely damp (valley folks ) and bone dry (east of our volcanos). Mishima and I are valley folks.
Thanks Mishima for the art.
Olitski, Morris Louis, and of course the genius, Mark Rothko.
thanks.
