Cell Phone Photos: Miscellaneous Situations

I took the following photos over the last few months.  They are an odd collection with no particular theme.

All of the photos were taken with an iPhone camera.

I love the waiting room photo. They really look like chairs, waiting. Great stuff!
Man. These are cool mishima. iPhone! Man.
That's one hell of a hallway! And I loved the title on "salt and pepper".
With an iphone? Really? The one of your co-worker and her daughter really tickles me. Like the summer pic as well. I can't wait for it to warm up here.
Love the statue, mishima, especially the hands being in sharper focus.
I have some software on the iPhone that adds a "tilt shift" focus effect. I used that on the first and last photos. That's how the out of focus effect was added to the statue and salt and pepper.
oh man, this is great M...I love that you used the tilt shift in a way that's not typical, and yet those two are just lovely, beautiful renditions.

Wonderful as always. I was wondering when I'd get my fix of your iPhone photos again, it's been too long.
They are all, each and every one of them, outstanding photos...from a phone?! My favorites are "New Construction" looks rather like a Rothko painting...close your eyes a little and see what I mean..."Waiting Room" is just lovely...peaceful and somehow not empty at all...I'd put either one up on my walls!
Forgot to say, "Secret Office" is fun to look INTO...lots of little details...
i particularly like the summer photo. and the salt and pepper shakers, you made them like angels in disguise :D
I completely dig 1, 6,7 and 8. All good, but those four are dynamite man.

Nice. I too love the celestial condiments.
Grrrrrrf! Why can't we rate something 5 or 10 (or 100) times??? These are just terrific!!!
These are strikingly beautiful.
Love that special effect you used in the "statue" and "salt and pepper" photos... other than that, the "waiting room" (great one) and the "summer" are my favourites. Waiting for your next set of photos! :-)
I'm amazed at what you can do with your phone. These just get better and better. Of course you have to recognize a great photo before you can take one. It's a gift and you have it.
Ooh - that top one is really creepy. Love it.
I like the first one alot!
How did yu manipulate the depth of field?
I love these pictures. You have a great eye and manage to capture something soulful in things that would be expected to be mundane.
Always enjoy your images, particularly the abstractions.
Gary, the depth of field change is an effect added by an inexpensive iPhone application called TiltShift. It basically adds the same effect that a very expensive tilt shift camera lens would add.

If you take a photo with a long depth of field and use a tilt shift effect in the middle, it gives an interesting "miniature" effect, as if you were photographing a miniature train set.

Here is an unpublished OS post showing the the miniature effect of tilt shift:

In the first and last photos I simply used the tilt shift app to throw the background out of focus by keeping the nearest objects in focus.

BBD told me about the software a couple of months ago, and I have been playing around with it.
You demonstrate your skill at photography so well with these! Someone once told me that knowing your equipment's strong points and weak points was more important than what your equipment WAS.

These are some truly excellent shots, my friend. A well-deserved EP and cover slot. Congrats.

Thumbed.
Okay, maybe I do want an iPhone, after all.

Again, lovely photos, as usual.

Is it just my monitor, or does the salt and pepper actually look more like salt and salt?
#1 is ghostly. You have a good eye. And a really cool phone.
Excellent photos, I had no idea the iphone camera was this good.
#2 looks familiar. maybe it's the rothko effect...
Are those salt & pepper shakers at Hot Lips Pizza in the Pearl?
Close. Bridgeport Brewpub in the Pearl.
Oh, I probably did recognize it and thought of the wrong place. Been there with the kids...
Love your photos, especially "secret office".. I love texture. But they are all wonderful
these are stunning! you're a master. all of them, but i particularly like secret office, waiting room and new contruction. guess i like structure more than people these days.
