NOTES

Empty Table and Parked Cars -- unfortunately, with the declining economy empty restaurant tables are an increasingly common sight.

Musician -- this is Tarik Banzi, master oud player and percussionist, in a quiet moment before a concert of Middle Eastern music last night in Portland, Oregon.

Man in Freezer -- the local grocery store is being remodeled, and this fellow was taking a little break after installing a new freezer case.

Commuter == young lady texting on a commuter train.

Poster -- this is a tiny detail from a larger student poster in a local grade school.

Tires -- lots of tires, but I bought a new car battery that day.

Singer -- this is Ranjani Krishnan during a performance of Andalusian and Middle Eastern music last year in Portland, Oregon.  Actually, this photo was taken with a "regular" camera, but I like it and decided to include it here.

Mishima, another great looking collection to add to your earlier posts. I am still amazed when I see photos this sharp and colorful that they were the product of a cell phone camera!
Another set of winners, Mish! Well done. I especially like the empty table one.

Also, "Commuter" doesn't appear - is it my computer or did you take it down?
"Commuter" is there on my screen. If you can't see it, I'm not sure why.
Monkey fingered. Photography subreddit.
I forgot to mention that these were taken with an iPhone (except for the last one.)
oh, i love it when you do these. i wish you would PM me with your new posts. i have trouble keeping up because of the brain thing. color is big with me so i particularly love Empty Tables, Barricades and Singer but they are all fabulous. i too am amazed that you can get these outstanding photos from a cell phone. love love love
Very cool! Thanks for posting.
Great photos! The resolution is so sharp - it's amazing how far camera phone technology has come in such a short time.
You certainly get around, don't you, Photographer!
Nice to see you still share these gems with us.
Empty Table and Parked Cars made me think of a contemporary Jacques Tati montage—of course, the cars aren’t as elegant as those featured in Trafic, but the translucent layers of recursive reflections and geometrical shapes reminded me of the architecture in Playtime. Mirrors and glass feature heavily in that film, as well as in The Matrix. I could go off on a tangent about mimesis and simulacra, but I’m already sounding dangerously like an art and/or film critic. What I mean to say is, “Ooh! Pretty.”

Barricades is another favorite—I’m a sucker for greens and oranges in juxtaposition, all the more beautiful when in the context of a found urban beauty at the divide between culture and nature. Makes me think of Denise Levertov’s “Brother Ivy.”

And finally, Poster, which I find possesses a melancholy abstract beauty, a late summer evening loneliness that is deeply moving.

Thanks for the delightful exhibition!
