I am a nature lover, a friend of my mother the earth, and an avid outdoorswoman. I love the early morning, and all the time in between. Every new day brings opportunities, and every day I am still breathing and not being shot at is a good day.
I write for fun, and if I have lifted your spirits or brightened your day I have did very well.
Find peace this day and every day!

Jus' a Used Wife!
Life in Florida means meeting many retirees. I have met so many in my few short weeks here. Bankers, lawyers, teachers, auto workers. They come from all parts of the country and overseas. I talk to them and they tell me how many years they worked, and where and when. They… Read full post »

We all live in a Circle
Yesterday I went out to buy some food. A small car sat broken on the roadside, inside were a young man and older woman. I stopped to see if I could help them.
The man began Do you have any booster cables?
Sure, they are right here. I helped put them… Read full post »
Better to light a small torch than curse the darkness
I love my country, the United States of America.
I admit to sometimes getting dewy eyes hearing the national anthem.
I left this country and lived in Canada for eight years. I had my chance to become a citizen there, but returned here to the south. I do not regret this.… Read full post »

Mountains surround you
Green tree clothes they wear
Clear water sparkling
Hoot owls every where
Bright stars so shiny
Black bats swoop in between
Crescent moon hangs low
Soft wind hugs your hair
Cold drink in the icechest
Good food from the grill
Buds rolled for blazes
Clean breath of fresh… Read full post »
'Never eat pumpkins' (oral history)
I was a young girl then. I would say ten years old. At a great aunt's house. She was very old to me then. She suffered badly with osteoarthritis. I always thought she looked like a a small brown turtle. She was only around four feet tall. She had soft dark… Read full post »
Mountain Life is me
I live in these wonderful hills of north Georgia.
I often get asked Why??
I have thought hard about that. Here is just a few reasons:
Wednesday I was sitting in a low waterfall letting the clear, cool water run over my shoulders. I sat on a moss covered rock and… Read full post »
I just read with complete sadness about the death of one of our community of online, virtual friends, Dakini Dancer. I wept.
I do want to say this: Reading blogs, making comments, and meeting so many friends here is a wonderful, life changing thing for me. I just love coming to… Read full post »
Jus' Country
I feel like I must admit something here.
I am jus' a country girl.
Friday I drove my SUV and took my dog Mission to Jack's River some 20 miles east of here in the Cohutta Wilderness Area. It was already hot in my yard and muggy. Skeeters are fierce and… Read full post »
Early Morn
There is something to be said
About that early morning stillness
When the day is fresh and new
And the mind is clear and calm
There is something to be said
About the peace you find
When you sit alone
And think of nothing
Start the day with calm… Read full post »
I will be There
When you are walking beside the river,
Listen to the sounds of the water:
I will be there
When the birds sing in the morning:
Listen to the songs:
I will be there
When the sky lights up with the sunset,
Look at the colors:
I will be there
When the… Read full post »
'Where is my Health Care?'

Searching for signs of Spring
I am going camping today. I am searching for signs of Spring!!
The buds are swelling on the tree tips now. The red maples sport lace fringed fingers. Willows shimmer in a dress of bright green. The birds are singing this day. A wren calls to me "wake up!! feed me!!"… Read full post »
peace to you this day
I wake early.
soft darkness surrounds me
I chant
peace to you this day
Sounds of spring float thru the window
chorusing frogs
Drips from the rain
snores from the dogs
peace to you this day
I relax and breathe slow
muscles fall limp
Pain no more
'The Eagles Scream'
Two eagles in love
Feathers turning in tight circles

I sit rapt and small below.
They wheel away
A train rubbles away below
Carrying coal down to A-town
I bow my head and cry

2: having my back scratched just barely without ripping my skin.
3: Lying on a blanket in the warm sun and listening to birds singing.
