Teague Milling Company. Long closed. Downtown Marshall

Tarpaper shack. It was occupied....

This water was nice and a great place to sit for an hour and find some peace in this world.

Hope you liked the view.

I do hope this place loads today. it would be a welcome change....
Dear Lord, these are gorgeous! This would make a wonderful EP. I'm going to spend a few minutes looking again and find some peace right here. Thank you dear.
This is great! What sort of effect did you use on the photos??
All are little wonders, like the texture.
that fog over Marshall just draws me in.
I LOVED THIS.. and this is my kind of world.. either in chrome or sepia..:)
I am so glad it loaded. Last night it took me 30 minutes to load some photos..blah

HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Ah, read your PM. I may have to play with that myself.
I edited all of these in the freeware program Piscasa 3.
It is fun making the new look old.
I couldn't stop looking at the "hillbilly heaven" shot...these are all great.
Ty Blue
Harry, I over saturated these many times and played like crazy with the slider buttons. After I messed around awhile I added sepia tone.
It is not hard if I can do it dear.
That one is my fave Dianaani
You are always kind Linda. This place is loading very slow and continues to do so. I don't know whether to augh or cry...
I am sure the hillblly has a wonderful view of the river Just Thinking. There was a huge pile of beer cans....
Stunning, beautiful, kind of sad, kind of refreshing and hopeful. The kitchen spoke to me particularly; I imagined all kinds of scenarios for how it came to be as it is in the picture.
Damn, Mis, these should be in a book. You have this great eye and photo shopping skills. Great Work!
I did the same thing Ann. I pondered what was cooked and where they all went to.
Scanner, I looked into making a book. it is a ton of costs and a a**load of $$$$....
It looks beautiful, well done.
Yes, I liked the view!
Your photographs are so interesting. And I love the color...~r
I do hope to put up a spring post sometime soon. In color...
TY Ory Larry and Joan.
Fabulous photos, Mission . . . they totally capture the sense of place without a constriction of time . . .
Time is a funny concept here Owl. Sometimes it seems like nothing much changes in these hills.
I did like making these look like old photos from someone's picture box back when...
This is slowly downloading. I smiled like a Gezer64 who I saw Rated you on the Left Feed.
You and Mission would be fun in a black and white Photo Darkroom. We could photo in `sepia.
No sleeping in cold `woods.

I just went back to gaze - Beautiful.
I use to love working sepia - Prints.
Geezer 64 has great seasonal ~ Poem.
Thanks.
You can use my basement darkroom.
It's very narrow so You bump often.
Maybe we can wear football helmet.
Big Shoulder Pads.
Spiked High Heels.
Shin Mouth Guards.
You'll find a brown clothed country girl
playing in the brown dirt
bare feet soakin'
down by a cane brake
watchin' a pair of river otters
playin' with a rock
findin' a new wildflower
smilin' more than a lot
welcomin' the sunrise
playin' in the rain
laughin' bigtime giggles
listenin' for a butterflys hum....
You are welcome here Art and Geezer94 is a great friend of mine. I thank him for this camera everytime I use it....
The fireplaces and chimneys that are stand sentinel in the space where a home used to be are always intriguing to me.

Beautiful, Mission.
For these kind of pictures Linnn I could shot a zillion it seems in these parts. I find it paradise for someone like me who walks around seeings shots every time I go down the road. I carry my camera everywhere here. I am afraid I will miss something...
laughing...
I always wonder about the missing people that used to live there and what they looked like....
Spectacular imagery, Suzy. That area is a photo around every corner. You do well with all that. Very cool!
I really like the photos. Thanks. R
I shower you with my photos Michael and you are always too damn kind to me. Carry on tho'....
Sheba, you are always welcome here and come back often....
Beautiful Mission. There's something about sepia that I've always loved. Great job.
I do love the warm browns Trilogy.
And the way it makes these look like old film strips.
I am a lover of very old photography. The older the better....
Love your photographs Mission.
Happy to make you a Fav.
Nice shots, and the sepia works with the old buildings...
Welcome to my world Eric. Stop by often and make yourself at home.
always happy to see you in these parts Myriad.
Those are magical pictures. Sepia makes everything appear more picturesque, turning the broken down into "history." Though knowing where you live, there's true beauty around every corner.
I do love the medium Bell.
I love replying here too. When I can get it to load....
You are always welcome here Pavanne. I am happy to see ya here.
Suzanne, a really beautiful and interesting photo essay--your post definitely should have received an EP and cover position today! Looking forward to more of these from your area!
I do love to play John. I could fill page after page.
I was disappointed to say the least. It takes me one hour to produce these. I would have thought...naw..it ain't worth discussing....
Misson, the most alluring photos are done in Sepia and B&W. You've captured the very essence of what I'd have wanted to shoot and paint during my fine art illustration days. You spoke to us with your eyes. Tough thing to do in the world of artistic expression. ;-) I am especially fond of the kitchen of yesteryear.
~r
Come on over to this area and your eyes will fall out from the views dear TME. It is such a scenic place.
I agree about Sepia and B&W. I love doing both.
But I got some spring colors to post next.
Kick ass! Nothing more can be said. I really dig the sepia.
My brother in law recently moved to Cary and my mother-in-law
( God love her sweet decision) is moving near there, as well, to be in the warm weather. I would be more inticed to go there to take in the scenary you've shared over the other option.
'ENTICED" for heavens sake!
Lovely images all of these.
fascinating--Woody Allen's Manhatten Murder Mystery is filmed in sepia tones. I love the effect.
Cary is not so far TME. and I hope I can entice you to come one day...laughing...gawd knows I make typos everyday here....
Ric. You are welcome to come back for more on one of my next posts.
Anna1...you are kind dear as always..
Sarah come again....
What a lovely visit. I especially liked the kitchen from long ago - vacant and waiting for that exact photo to be taken. Lovely, lovely!
I know Spark. There is something about an old kitchen. I am glad the wasps living there did not want to sting me while I was visiting this place. They sure were flying at my head that day inside this place.....
Scarlett, I promise some spring colors for you on the next one. I saw the snow at your place but could not get my comment to post when I tried to comment.
Gorgeous. A number of these are remarkably like Andrew Wyeth's drybrush watercolors.
My guess is tat you can tell I am a big fan of Wyeth Snippy.
But glad you stopped in and looked at these.....
Wall Streets victims when will they learn to fight back?
Great photos!! Houses look like half the places I visited as a census enumerator here in East Tennessee.
You are surely right jack.
TN is about the same Tom.
This was beautiful and so evocative of a time and place.
Its moving quickly tonight!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos!

I'm delayed to get here - since yesterday. Thanks you for the beauty.

♥R
My thanks to all who enjoyed this post. I had fun with these photos and hope everyone will post some..
Oh, I liked the view all right. Very powerful stuff. I have a favorite, but I am not going to tell.
Very nice. I'd love to see full-size versions of these so as to see more detail. Any chance you have these posted to Flickr, or to some other photo blogging service?
Love these, most especially the last.
I wish more people could see this up close and personal, Mission. It's a reminder we all need about the needs here in our own country for education, jobs, and a decent quality of life beyond tar paper and outhouses.
These are beautiful, Mission. OS has gone so slow, they took some time to load but they are worth it, every one. My favourite is 'downtown Marshall' - exquisite! This reminds me of the movie "Winter's Bone", a set of images of the US that we never usually see. One day, on the back of my Yamaha, ... ;) Rated.
