'Homeless Party Mix: part 1
Skinny saw me yesterday at the day shelter
I went there first thing to return a bag left in my SUV during the last mad flight from a 'camp' out by the interstate. The camp was raided by the local officer friendly group. I had left in a big hurry,… Read full post »
'Living in Crisis Mode, be very AFRAID'
How scared are you right now??
Should you be??
Does the 24/7 bombardment of news keep you up at night??
Do you have a job?? For how long??
Are you down and out, scared to look outside??
Do you have nightmares and wake up in cold sweats??
How high is the… Read full post »
Never Surrender!!
I will never surrender.
Life is not an easy ride. It hits you square in the face and gets your attention.
But it is not how hard the blow hits, it is what you do about it.
Me??
Life has beat the living crap out of me.
The 'Disappearing Oil'
The disappearing oil.
In my humble opine.
I am quite sure for many here in the gulf, reading that the oil has just vanished to the tune of 75% is good news.
I cannot say how much oil is still out there, for I have no way to measure it.… Read full post »

‘Jus’ sittin’ Alone, Wonderin’ at it All….’
I am sitting here alone, like most mornings. Cruising the news, TV on mute in the background. A snoring hound lies with twitching feet and nose across the room. A smallish calico cat roams, looking for an early something… Read full post »
Hey Boomers, the party is OVER.....
We bought The American Dream. Us. The boomer generation.
It was schooled in us from the beginning. Girls were taught to become Betty Crocker. Men were taught Father knows Best. Make the good grades. Pursue a career. Be all that you can be. Change the world.
Buy the suburbian tract house… Read full post »
'Good to the LAST DROP'...........
Why now it is all over, right??
The leaking well.
It is capped. That makes everything go back to normal again, doesn't it??
So it is Saturday and we can all return to normal life.
We can go to the mall, shop till we drop, go by a drive-thru meal,… Read full post »
Ranting for the Gulf Oil Spill here in Florida
The anger here is so thick you can feel it like lead.
I was in a bar last Wednesday sipping a beer and just listening to the locals blue collars discuss the oil. It is not in this area yet and it is always on the menu for everyone here.

The Long Skinny Fingers of Death will Touch you Too

This is a sea grass bed. It is high tide yet the water is clear and I saw mollusks polishing the individual strands in a slow dance moving in circles. Needle fish nibbled in packs.
Much of the life here in the gulf begins right here. Floating fish roe… Read full post »
The Edge of the Sea...illustrated with pics....
Well, since it is the summer solstice this morning I headed out to the point of East Beach at Fort De Soto Park.
I arrived to this sunrise:

It did brighten my day quite a bit here.
I turned around and looked for some birds. I did not… Read full post »
The Folly of Man.....
I headed over to a promised place of shallow salt water and good snorkeling Sunday morning. It was fabled to have miles of sea grass. I left early, just before first light.
I arrived to this.
It looked so rich, the coming day and the… Read full post »
'No one will remember your name'......
the view from here.
The pictures I am seeing both on the TV and on my monitor are haunting me. I watched three Red Egrets fly right over my head at dawn today headed for the Mangrove swamps. I stood there, coffee in hand, and wondered what… Read full post »

'floating on hope and a prayer'
Today jus' had to be a beach day here. So I packed up and left for the Mangroves this morning bright and early. I headed out to a long bridge that has a border strip of beaches and swamp lining the highway towards Tampa and over the bay.
Waiting on Black Death to come to Paradise

These are my footprints in the sand. I went snorkeling yesterday inside Tampa Bay. I saw many kinds of small life.

peace to you this day
I wake early.
soft darkness surrounds me
I chant
peace to you this day
Sounds of spring float thru the window
chorusing frogs
Drips from the rain
snores from the dogs
peace to you this day
I relax and breathe slow
muscles fall limp
Pain no more
