Bio
I began this blog to document my path as a new chef building my business. It's turned into me re-connecting with my true life's purpose as a storyteller and actor. I started out as an actor, left to start a speed dating company, a catering events company, leading conscious dance forms, being a health coach... only to return to being an actor. These are my stories...

This is not my favorite time of year.  Bad things happen to me during the Holidays.

December 15, 2012,  I attended the Memorial service for my Aunt.  The week before, my Aunt passed away, she was suffering from ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).   The disea… Read full post »

Today, I went to Church

Stained Glass Religion.    I gave it up when I left my childhood faith, being a Jehovah's Witness.  I did not realize how much I was giving up when I left.

Leaving was a divorce of my core community and in a way my immediate

Gabby's hairOkay.  I've been nice long enough.  I've been making excuses, looking inward, trying to manage my feelings and educate the world about black women and hair.  I was reading posts on Black Girls Run NYC (a facebook running group I belong to) about Gabby Douglas' hair.

Being Black at Burning Man

Party in the desert

I wrote this as a response to a  post on a Burning man group on Facebook.

The original question was:

Am I sensitive or is BM mainly a white folk thing?

There were several posts back and forth... I finally posted this:… Read full post »

11 lessons learned in 2011

The past 4 holiday seasons have had one thing in common...they totally sucked.  Each year worse than the one before, it's quite depressing.  So, I scrape myself off of the floor after a week of red wine, marathons of The Walking Dead, and hours spent in solitude.

Here's a list… Read full post »

What we Want

Ralphie from a Christmas Story

I love "A Christmas Story".  It is a perfect metaphor for life.  You really want something,  you go through all this drama to get it, and it's not exactly what you thought it would turn out to be but it's okay.

My last Christmas with my family was in 1974. … Read full post »

Listening to you.

Walking in the sun.  God it feels good.  The sun is shining kissing my skin.  The day is finally warm enough to wear my hiking TEVA sandals.  I spread my toes and my body sighs.  Walking provides me with a moving meditation to march with the ongoing battle in my mind. … Read full post »

Corn

The corn was about 3 feet tall when I arrived.  Today it's over 6 feet tall.  Most of the corn in the fields I drive by here in the Berkshires was never harvested, it just hangs turning black from tall brown stalks.

Of course the summer flew by. … Read full post »
