I must really, really like my OS companions!
This recipe is the ONE that family, friends and friends-of-friends have repeatedly called  for forty years, in order for me to give it up.
It is uncomplicated in preparation and sublime in flavor.

DO ENJOY, all!

1 1/2 cups onion, diced fine
3 tablespoons garlic powder
1/2 cup butter
4 pounds sirloin steak, cubed
6 tablespoons flour
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1  1/2 pounds mushrooms, sliced
3 10 oz. cans cream of chicken soup, undiluted
3 cups sour cream, or more, to taste
egg noodles, homemade or packaged

1.    Saute onion with garlic powder in butter, over medium

       heat, till translucent.

2.    Stir in meat and brown thoroughly.

3.    Stir in flour, salt, pepper and mushrooms. Cook 10

        minutes.

4.    Stir in soup. Simmmer uncovered for 20 minutes.

5.    Stir in sour cream. Heat through.

6.    Serve over prepared egg noodles.

Mothership... this is one of my favorite "comfort foods" and will definitely try your recipe. Thanks
Great recipe, Mother, and I plan to use it. But tell me: Is an egg noodle ever prepared for this? I say use'm anyway, the little SOBs.
This recipe looks like a gastronomical orgasm. I can't wait to try it.
The first thing I did when I read this recipe was to copy it into my recipe folder. This WILL get made! I've been looking for a really good stroganoff recipe for a while and this is it. Thanks, Mothership!
Mothership- Thank You. My recipe for Stroganoff is so involved I don't make it very often. This looks great and much simpler, I can wait to try it out for the family.
Oooooooooo!!!! I want some!!!

(Maybe with a nice chilled Viognier). Mmmmmmmm.....

Can't wait to try this!!
I've also copied this as it's one of my niece's favourites. Thanks for posting it!
Damned. It's only 7:19 and a long time before dinner. This looks awfully good, Mother.
Tried it, loved it :)
