At last count, I think I've been responsible for the planning of 64 birthdays. I counted my husband for each year we've been married and then I added up all my kids' ages. That's a lot of birthdays but it's a total lie.
My kids love planning parties. In fact, they have everyone's themes chosen, sometimes years in advance. We cook a lot at our house and every time we try a new recipe, the girls imagine how they'd serve it for a crowd. You'd be surprised how many things they can put on a cracker.
We've never once bought a bakery cake, but we can make our own fondant from scratch. We've never bought a pinata, but we make them all the time.
So I had to bite my tongue at the woman in the grocery store who got all long in the face and said "But they'll never have a birthday party."
WTF?
Since when are schools in the business of throwing birthday parties?
