- I'm an old, short, fat, unsightly, grouchy, reformed troll with a bad attitude and a cricket bat.
I need to state clearly that English is not my first language. There are upwards of 600,000 words in the English language. In my native language there are a mere 11,000 and most of those are entire concepts (kind of like the theory of relativity) rather than words which translate individually.
Free advice: Don't.

Lots of things are "new" (relatively speaking) in the Raptor's Nest. First, we moved to SD a while ago. Living back "on the Res" has been interesting for me - small cultural behaviors which I had mostly forgotten have caused some consternation on my part. Bigger cultural behavior… Read full post »
The title of the following is "Dear Police Officer" and I wrote it in the wake of the Grand Jury decision in Ferguson. It's also apt in response to the failure to charge in the Eric Garner case.
Dear Police Officer:
Do you see that toddler… Read full post »
I started writing this post a LONG 22 months ago... anticipating a relatively short wait for all of the paperwork for KnK to come back approved. Unfortunately, I was a wee bit ahead of myself.
I have to go back almost three years to tell this story... because that is… Read full post »
I decided, when I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in October, I would create recipes for gluten free foods that TASTE like "regular" food. To those ends, I have been having FUN with my food for the last few months. Here are a couple of recipes that are simple,… Read full post »
I'm positive by the end of the election process this time around most of us are going to be singing some version of the following:
Why do I say that? Because this has been a LONG election season and I think we are ALL pretty much on "election… Read full post »
I'm not really playing with myself... I'm playing with my camera... or rather the special effects on my camera.
I took the photo below about a month ago across the back yard. Just FYI that building you see is a Crematorium.
I took these two… Read full post »
My poor car... It was in an accident last night. it's in bad shape...
I'm perfectly fine though...
My car was sitting in my driveway and I was sitting in the house.
Someone stopped by, for a minute, to pay a bill...

Use of U.S. Citizenship Question on Application to VoteIn October 2011, the Application to Vote – Poll List form was prescribed to contain the question: “Are you a citizen of the United States? YES/NO.”
On October 5, 2012 a Federal District Court Judge issued a preliminary/… Read full post »
15 months ago a small boy by the name of Mason entered my life. Mason has turned into an absolute HAM when it comes to a camera. The following are just a few of the many faces of "Squeakerbutt" (as I call him).
When Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach came out yesterday with the announcement that the Kansas State Board is considering removing President Obama from the ballot in Kansas he very publicly violated the law known as MOVE. MOVE is the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act of 2009 and… Read full post »
I had a teenager hit me with it this morning... and I'm still looking at him like he's an idiot a couple of hours later. Why? The kid came to me this morning and said "Did you know the Chinese were PAYING people to commit acts of terrorism on the US?"… Read full post »
He wrote to a Maryland legislator, Emmett C. Burns Jr. who sent a snotty note to the owner of the Ravens regarding an opinion expressed by Brendon Ayanbadejo about marriage equality.
Honest, there are jobs out there... and the pay isn't too bad either. It's actually quite good if you live in a fairly populated area. It's really good pay if you already own all the equipment (and most homeowners do).
Cost of startup... however much it costs in your area… Read full post »

Yesterday the Republican party put forth their "platform" for this election and the only way to describe it is "extreme". Well, we could call it punative, abusive and ignorant as well.
They start off with: We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and endorse legislati… Read full post »
This time four years ago you could have called me a conservative Republican. You could have called me that and been reasonably sure I would not be offended. I typically voted Republican. I agreed more with the Republican Party than I did the Democratic Party. To be hones… Read full post »

According to his own filings with the Federal Election Commission the answer to that question appears to be "multiple times."
This morning I had to head for Hell (Michigan) for a business meeting.
I left home expecting the 1:00 PM meeting to be about as "Thrilling" as getting a tooth pulled without benefit of anesthetic. In other words - I was really NOT looking forward to this meeting. … Read full post »
No, that headline is not a joke. One of the men who guarded President Lincoln was an illegal alien. There is even at least one photograph of the illegal alien in question guarding President Lincoln in the National Archives.

Down through the years I have met many people "in the flesh" whom I met virtually (either online or on the radio waves) first.
