Why I Miss You Guys

Rate: 8 Flag

I haven't been around much lately due to a couple of different projects I've been working on.  One of which is a very small time writing gig with Examiner.com.  I'm the 'Atlanta Game Lifestyle Examiner' and while I'm not exactly paying the bills with it, I am trying to improve my professional writing skills and gain some knowledge and experience.

The only problem with writing professionally is that you have to sound professional.

If you know me at all, you know I'm really not great about reigning in my opinions or my language, so this has been a bit of a challenge.

Last night I posted an article about my disgust with an episode of Intervention about a video game 'addict'.  I was livid about what I'd just seen and I wanted to share my trench mouth view with my friends.

And let me tell you it was so nice to be able to do that.

Today I wrote up a much more tame piece for my Examiner page.  You can read it here and see the difference if you'd like:

Video game addiction and Intervention

I actually put a little more effort and research into it to further prove my point and there's not one swear word to be found so I guess it's probably a better article than what I posted here.

But I gotta say that I have missed you guys; even the ones who don't agree with me from time to time.

OS may have drama running out of every orifice, but it's also got a whole lot of talented writers and kind readers.  I'll take the drama any day if it means I get to rail on some idiots in my blog.  It's an open community, we're gonna piss each other off.

I'm glad to be a part of it.  I may not be here as much as I'd like, but I always find something interesting to read or write about when I come back.

I love being me.  And you guys let me do that whenever I want.  Thanks for leaving a light on.

This is one of the reasons I love you so much! Life comes first. OS is somewhere down the list. I wish I had an outlet, but until the economy turns around, I 'm afraid that OS will have to be it for me. It's all I can afford! hehehe. I'll go check out your professional gig. This should be good. A reigned in Summer. I can't wait. This should be funny.
It's GREAT to see your smiling Atlantan face back on here and I for one have noticed your absence and been saddened.

Glad to see you're honing your skills and polishing up your professionalism. Just don't polish too much as I love your rough edges. That is what makes you, you.

Intervention is like any other good show initially, it's fresh and deals with the perils of the worst kind of addictions and hopefully helps someone. Then they put in "the twists". I blame reality shows and sequels of films for the dreaded "twists". Video game addiction. I think it's real, but is it as life threatening as let's say heroin or meth?

I must now go check out your post.

I love being me too and being able to rant on in any fashion I want on OS--therefore I love you being you! Thanks for this post. The demarcation between "professional and non-professional" writing could be debated into the next century. I, for one, am not sure that the professional MO is really want people want and need to read these days--otherwise why do we have SO MANY writers and readers on OS? Clearly people are craving something more and different than the usual suspects!
Hehehe. I checked out your legit gig. My first thought was who is trying to imitate Summer? Still, it was well written. You've got some talent!
Michael: You start to realize just how much you use the F word when you have to reign it in. I might as well be a fuckin sailor ;). Miss you bunches for sure.

Greg: good to see you too, buddy. And yeah, apparently video game 'addiction' isn't even medically proven. I did some research ;)

Poet: I absolutely agree. I love finding something on here that gets me fired up. It's a breath of fresh air.
Sao: Thank you! Hopefully one day it'll be steady, but right now it's just a bit of pocket change. lol
Congrats on finding work. Nice to hear from you. I, too, have a hard time being in places where I can't cuss. I hope to grow up someday.
Jimmy: I might entertain the thought of growing up someday. we'll see =)
I just subscribed to your other blog so I can watching you professionaling.
Hell yeah! The light is always on - gotta love that. And good luck with the professional tone - it was never my forte either.
Freaky: Thanks a lot! That's even better than cake!

Owl: I'll work at it. Thanks a lot!
Congrats on getting a gig. It is all about learning and even if it doesn't make you crapload of money writing is the best way to learn about being us. Does that make sense?

Glad to hear from ya.
i've seen a few episodes of intervention. it's hard to imagine them doing one on a video game addict.

anyway, don't be a stranger.
