Gay penguins to be reunited ... eventually

There's been a bit of a flap about the Toronto zoo splitting up a pair of male African penguins in an effort to get them to breed with females and, like, perpetuate the species.

The zoo is promising to reunite the pair after breeding season.

No word at the moment on whether the penguins are Doing Their Duty or just pining away.

A very brief video that I can't see a way to embed.

Apparently there has been a great outpouring of indignation at this separation and support for the penguin's relationship.

Hmm.  Now if only this sentiment could be extended to gay humans...

They certainly are sharp dressers. The tuxedos are so snappy.
They are indeed well dressed. Your sentiment about extending such feelings to humans is very well put. And thanks for your comments on my holidays piece. I agree with them in full!
Everybody loves penguins. That doesn't seem to interfere with their becoming extinct due to human activity.
Love is love is love.
they must miss each other. how sad
As long as there is intolerance, insecurity and fear, I fear the gay community will never be totally accepted by all. Sad but a true reality.
How dare they do this to those penguins?! Really. Aren't there other horny boy penguins who can take up the slack?
I agree totally, why are they treating penguin's relationship as more important than humans. Maybe gay humans need to wear tuxedos.

If I was a baby fur seal, up by Hudson Bay, I'd be really pissed about all the attention these two gay penguins are getting.

"Hey, Canadians--we're getting our fucking brains bashed in up here!"

This is why polar bears eat Canadians.
Maybe they need a meet with Marcus Bachman? No, I'm sure they would not be able to help the poor man.

I like penguins even more now.

They are a really fascinating species when it comes to sex - apparently the only species besides humans that practices prostitution (they do it for stones to build their nests).

Plus they're so adorable, with their little waddling walk and whatnot.

Thanks for this news - I have to get ready for work (grumble) but I'll see if my computer is up to watching the video you linked to, later.
