Inspired by BJ's post of this morning.

The thing about a society is that we're all inextricably intertwined. It makes the subject of *freedom* very vexing.

Sure, you are *free* to smoke and gorge. But, alas, I am not *free* to get out of picking up the… Read full post »

HOLY TOLEDO!

Toledo is just up the road from Madrid, and we went there as a morning trip on the second day of our tour.

Landscape on the way - agriculture; also an Airbus factory and lots of furniture factories & showrooms.

Glitter Goat...and Lost Again...

So we arrived at the Madrid airport, and looked around for someone holding a Trafalgar sign. Nada. Other tour operators were holding signs and gathering up the lambs. One tour operator, however, had no one come to him. And we had no tour operator.

ICH BEIN EIN AMERIKANER

Gotta recount my trip in order. So...to finish the saga of the German sausage.

Desnee, are you there?

Couple things I forgot. James asked if I'd brought a book. Indeed, and paper-and-ink at that (while all about me people were reading off their e-books). I brought… Read full post »

And back to the gloom and chill of our local winter, the way God intended...at least for those of us of northern extraction. (The God in question would be Thor, I guess.)

It was snowing when our plane landed in Ottawa. However, apparently in our absence the weather

SLIP-SLIDING AWAY...

I yelled at my daughter to get away from the car.  She replied that she was leaning on it to keep from sliding on the ice.  I pointed out, at high volume, that the damned CAR was sliding on the ice, Park and Brake notwithstanding.

She stepped back, onto

Sangrias and Sunshine

Okay, you guys figure out what's going on with ... the happy couple, or whatever the hell. I'm outta here.

Some while back I said I'd be in the Bay Area this coming week and asked if anyone would like to get together for a meet-up.  Deafening silence ensued.… Read full post »

DON'T BE MY VALENTINE!

photo-1

Mt. Etna is erupting again.  Roberto Luigi posted about it, complete with fiery photos, and it made me think about my visit there several years ago.
Here's a current photo, from the internet:

The bomb in my kitchen

I got a Tassimo machine a few weeks ago and have been enjoying cappuccino, latte, cafe crema, chai and hot chocolate.  Mostly cappuccino.

This is a latte, but looks the same...tastes much the same.

I felt quite silly and inadequate sitting around in my ordinary state of mind whilst all about me people were tripping.  Must have been four or five times before something happened.

And when it did, it wasn't much fun...

Felt silly and inadequate again, only i… Read full post »

FAIRIES! ...and gardens of death

A friend sent around an ad for a “fairy workshop”, where people would learn to do meditations to get in touch with the fairies and then make a little “door” to install on their property to call fairies in.

Pagan Obama doesn't understand Jesus...

It just ain't nat-churl

I just took off my over-sweater because I was unaccountably hot.  I checked the thermometer.  It's getting close to 40 outside and over 70 inside! That's ridiculous.  It's 9.15 at night at the beginning of February in eastern Ontario.

GNS - Satan worship in prison (boo!)

My Google alerts brought me news of an inmate in a Maine prison who is sueing to be allowed his Satan worship.

This matter came up every once in a while when I was doing Pagan chaplaincy in Canadian prisons.

Actually, this inmate can do it, whatever it may… Read full post »

Daniel Rigney wrote about his “Hal 9000 GPS”. Very funny. Check it out.

His post reminded me that I was going to write about my experiences with GPS.

I didn't have much interest in getting one because, like, I hardly go anywhere I don't know where

OF TWO MINDS ABOUT TAROT

Once upon a time there was a psychology prof who handed out astrological 'readings' to his students, ostensibly based on their sun-signs, and asked for comments. OMGDZ, so right on! was the response from everyone, and he would have had a class full of *believers* had
