how do the new bloggers' posts show up in search?

Rate: 5 Flag

When you use the search function to pull up blog pages, not all blogs show up the same way - at least not the new ones anyway.

Smithbarney's Pagec

Look at Smithbarney's page above when it opens, you see this legend: 1-10 of 51  for Smithbarney. Plus the two little blue boxes with the legends EDIT FRIENDSHIP and REMOVE FRIENDSHIP.

Sharon Who's Page when it opens

Although you see all of Sharon's posts : 1 - 7 of 7 for halflivedlifeDo you notice that thetwo blue boxes with EDIT FRIENDSHIP and REMOVE FRIENDSHIP is missing? Notice that Sharon posts under the name "Sharon Who" but her URL shows that she is registered as "halflivedlife". So if you want to find her, you need to type in that, and voila it pulls her posts BUT sans the lovely Blue Legends.

My Page showing just 2 Posts When it opens

My URL shows me as "Nabina", that is unique, so it should pull up all my posts and not just Feb20 and March 14.

When my page opens you see only two of my posts although there are seven,  also no blue boxes! The legend used to say: 1-2 of 2 for Nabina. This morning when I searched,  it pulled up this post plus two earlier posts dated Feb 20. The legend said : 1-3 of 3 for Nabina!

Rollings Page Mar 15

My page as on Mar 15

In Word Press  you have the option of manually fixing how many of your posts you want to show at once in your front page.  Eblogger and Vox automatically does that. Here,  I did not see that option.

If you click on the Manage Feed option it says : Would I like to Import?

Manage Feed Page

Rama's page seems ok at first sight but it says 1-2 of 3 for Traveller and then shows up a post by Zumalacious .

Rama's Page with Zumalacious on it

Am lost. Will someone help get our pages to look like everyone else': 1) show all posts,  2) show the two blue boxes :) (Ilike them very much) and 3) keep updating itself as and when new posts are added?

wow. i've been in OS since October of last year, and i didn't know any of this. it sure seems like if you have 7 posts it should show 7 posts. it may have something to do with a time delay of some kind; posts need to exist for a certain amount of time 'til the search function stores them maybe? but i'm guessing really on that, and all the rest of it's greek to me. hopefully somebody will drop by here with some answers on all this stuff.
Nanatehay, thanks for dropping by, (have seen three profile pictures by now, like this one bec of the smile)....yes, if it picked up two, it shd pick up all seven and these are standard design things really - so it shd be same for everyone at all times... Sanjuro66? wd he know?
I'm new to Open Salon and haven't written anything yet, but I hope when I do the posts will show up in search. Thanks for alerting me to this problem Rolling!
I think the problem is more the name you chose than anything else. It is such a common word that it confuses the search program. You can find yourself by using the white drop down menus and clicking on name. Then your name will be at the top of the list. Click on Rolling and it takes you to your blog. It will be very difficult for anyone else to find you though. I recommend changing your name. I don't think most people have that problem.
DrewS, you are Welcome.
MR, description of how crawlers work says the programs shd get you with your name of registration or blog name, which in my case shows up in the URL as 'nabina', altho today I noticed it shows this post but not the others. am happy that you all took time to read and respond to my 'post' - thanks
so did you solve the problem? Or did the movers and shakers not even read this?
