by Lord Byron (1788 - 1824)

all the musical versions I could find, through Youtube, in one place for those that love the poem:
So late into the night,
Though the heart be still as loving,
And the moon be still as bright.
For the sword outwears its sheath,
And the soul wears out the breast,
And the hearth must pause to breathe,
And love itself have rest.
Though the night was made for loving,
And the days return too soon,
Yet we'll go no more a roving
By the light of the moon.
For those who like it rough and tough ;) after all George Gordon Byron was thought of as the Rockster of poetry in the eighteenth century.
Those who like it sweet and melodious, listen to this:
High school version one
High school version two: Lincoln High School Men's Chorale (embedding disabled)

High School version three (The Alabama All-State TTBB High School Choir of 2008 under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Carter. A-rovin' arranged by Norman Luboff). A hundred people on-stage singing it together! In sync! I liked it, this kind of thing is so very tough to do with kids, the hard work and dedication shows...

Is this Byron or ?
Leonard Cohen's version:
This one's the perfect prelude to who's coming next:
Joan Baez (my favourite version)
Reading of the poem
Another reading:
This one's the most dramatic of them all, I thought

Thank you, Rolling, for reminding me. Today is make me cry day on OS.
I love Joan Baez as a performer, and "Diamonds and Rust" is an awesome piece, but any time I see her interviewed, I wonder if someone just ran over her cat.
And, I love Joan.
Thanks, Rolling.
I live about two miles away from Lord Byron's home, Newstead Abbey in Nottinghamshire.
I come on lesser and lesser these days and miss your link. Today something made me think of you and I checked your site. Hopefully all good?

Alas, i sink down into desperate selfpity
in the hope that some gal somewhere,
